Family lost appeal for use of Ivermectin

Basically the family istrying to get the Mayo hospital to allow the use of Ivermectin or let their doctor administer Ivermectin to a loved one.
The hospital won't allow any of it because its not part of their protocol and they don't allow outside doctors in the hospital.
The 70 year old man has been on a vent for 28 days and the hospital has given the a 5% chance of surviving. Since it is looking bad the family wanted to try other things to possibly save his life.
I think protocols have killed more than the virus itself simply by denying alternative care.
This is John Q level stuff. It seems the hospital is looking at recieving incentives and protecting their protocols that lead to the vent. Definately not protecting the man that is literally at death's door.

I'm a DeSantophile; so, what's the deal? Also, 3 months ago, I kept sending Abbott and Patrick emails telling them they would be rock stars if they acquired ivermectin for Texans and they never responded.

Here’s what I don’t understand about the Ivermectin hesitation in the medical community.
Is there a reason doctors haven’t tried it upon diagnosis? I realize its efficacy for treating Covid has not been demonstrated in a clinical trial - but it’s also not been demonstrated to harm people. It would seem there is at least SOME evidence among docs who have prescribed it as part of a protocol that it helps. First do no harm.
I am not a doctor. However if I were 65+ and got the Rona, I don’t understand why the first order of business isn’t giving a Rx for Ivermectin or HCQ and a freaking Zpack? Does anyone know? What is the “official” explanation.
There is nothing in this protocol that could hurt so far as I understand. And it certainly makes more sense than “call me if you get worse.”

Hospitals don’t get paid more for a death.

Apparently antibiotics, steroids if the patient can take them. If their O2 drops put them on vent, sedate, see how it goes.

I would bet it's as simple as "top down". The guy at the top gets greased (by big pharma) and the "official protocol" states "this hospital does this, not that". Then, any doctors working there either follow official protocol or get let go for not following protocol.

Add in that hospitals have been given immunity from lawsuits in treating Covid 19 as long as they follow CDC recommendations.

It has to state the probably cause of death on the certificate to be covid 19 to recieve the higher allocation under the CARES act. So yea, the patient needs to die for the claim.
PS diagnosis can also trigger payout with or without vent.
