TERRY MALONE
TITLE Offensive Coordinator (Running Backs)

PHONE 419-372-7083
Terry Malone begins year three of his second stint at Bowling Green, bringing more than 30 years of coaching experience, which includes an NCAA National Championship and an NFL Super Bowl title.

Malone coached at Bowling Green from 1986-95 under Moe Ankney and Gary Blackney, serving in a variety of roles, including offensive line coach, tight ends coach, offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator. He helped BGSU to back-to-back MAC Championships and bowl game victories in 1991 and 1992. The Falcons went 61-45-5 during that 10-year stretch.

In his first year serving as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach under Scot Loeffler, Malone began to rebuild the offense. Tight end Quintin Morris became one of the most productive tight ends in the country, catching 55 passes for 649 yards and four touchdowns to earn second team All-MAC honors. BGSU scored 46 points, racking up 37 first downs and 620 yards of total offense in the new coaching staff’s debut against Morgan State. The Falcons also dominated MAC East rival Akron by a 35-6 score on Senior Day.

Prior to returning to Bowling Green, Malone coached at Western Michigan as the team's running backs coach in 2018 and as the Broncos' Director of Player Development in 2017. Prior to Western Michigan, he was the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at Purdue.

Malone spent nine seasons on Sean Payton's New Orleans Saints staff, helping the Saints capture the Super Bowl in 2009. He mentored Jimmy Graham, helping elevate him into an All-Pro tight end. In 2001, Graham became the first Saints tight end to have more than 1,000 yards receiving and in 2013, he led the league in touchdown catches and the Saints in receiving yards (1,215).

Prior to his stint with the Saints, Malone was the offensive line coach (1997-05) and offensive coordinator (2001-05) at Michigan. He was a member of Michigan's 1997 National Championship team and a part of five Big Ten championships. His teams played in eight New Year's Day bowl games, while he helped produce 14 All-Big Ten selections and four All-Americans. Michigan had back-to-back Big Ten Player of the Year winners on offense (Chris Perry in 2003 and Braylon Edwards in 2004), while two of his linemen were recognized as Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year (Jon Jansen in 1997 and Steve Hutchinson in 2000).

Malone began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Arizona in 1983 before moving on to his alma mater, Holy Cross, in 1985 to coach tight ends. He also spent the 1996 season as the offensive line coach at Boston College.

A four-year tight end at Holy Cross, Malone earned his bachelor's degree in history and was a captain his senior season.

Poor guy had to coach under Scott Loeffler. I'm sure he was excited to get the hell out of that situation.

we will see... but his biggest responsibility, or responsibilities, is one of need and of utmost importance:

- evaluation of OL recruits (film, drills, portal, and high school)
- development analysis (SWOT. motion capture film for get off and posture, etc.)

I'm sure he'll have other things to do, but an analyst dedicated to improving individual offensive line performance should accelerate development. And applying the same to recruits should do the same (head start when they come in) and also increase the % of "projects" that get meaningful reps.

Great guy on and off the field. Raised his kids on the northshore while with the saints and I think 2-3 of them graduated from LSU. Always came back to Nola for Irish Channel parade. Brings a wealth of knowledge. BK is hitting all the right buttons right now.

Lindsay Klemm is assistant DFO. I’m sure all calls are directed to her.

It's because he sucks now. Bowling Green had bottom ranked offense this past season. I have the feeling that it was either take a retirement or move to an analyst's role for a major team.
