As a Public Service This article is free to access by the Washington Post.
A federal website where Americans can order free coronavirus rapid tests will be launched Wednesday and allow each household to order up to four tests, senior administration officials said Friday.
The website, called covidtests.gov, will require that users provide their names and addresses to receive the tests. The government purchased 500 million rapid tests that will be available to every household, and will limit to four the number of tests sent to each address, the senior officials said during a briefing with reporters.

Gosh. Isn’t it nice of the government to help us out? They bought all the tests available and will even hand them out only to those who really need them. This will help us all comply with their demands! What would we do without them?

Everyone downvoting this probably also downvotes any post about urgent cares being jam packed because of people wanting to get tested. I hate Biden but credit where credit is due… this will 100% help to free up urgent cares and other doctor offices for those who are actually sick.

They have been confiscating tests from vendors to do this. It's not altruistic, it's fricking up the companies trying to find vendors to comply with their BS ETS.

Omicron will be on the downswing by the time you even get these tests with the 7-12 day shipping time. Hell, your CDC quarantine period would be over

This!
And of course it’s not altruistic! The government created massive demand and shortages via regulation. Then buys a majority of what production is capable of at this time.

there’s mass hysteria of people wanting to get tested because the media and Fauci has driven people fricking crazy
we went from “flatten the curve” to the media and government now creating the fricking curve by having people go wait in line for hours because they have a cough
there’s also no way this website doesn’t crash or works efficiently, and god knows how much of our tax money per test they had to spend to even get this useless thing set up

How were the rapid COVID tests overregulated?

When I find out someone I know has a cough and get's a COVID test and he tests negative my reaction is "Thank God, that is a relief" not "stupid damn test"!
I'd rather have too much testing than not enough.

When I find out someone just has a cough and gets tested, I think “what an idiot!”

Well, okay, you might be right about that.
But I was in a line taking my son for a COVID test so he could fly back to Europe to be with his mother and restart school and there were some very very sick people in the line at the urgent care. One guy was thin as a rake and wearing a Vietnam Veteran Cap and he was in a wheelchair so me and my son carried him in because the nurse there wasn't strong enough. And he wasn't the sickest.
I just can't blame people like that for getting tested, especially if they are ending their "best years" and want to see the grandkids. I hope this website will help with that.

Continuing - or allowing requirements for - mass, indiscriminate viral testing to work and travel at this point in the pandemic is absolutely overreach and mismanagement of resources.

They are requiring a name and address? Seems odd. Don’t need one to vote. What if you are to poor for an ID?
Could “specimen collection” be an issue?
Are there “false positives?”
Are there “false negatives?”
What is the predictive value of a positive test in:
A. A symptomatic person
B. An asymptomatic person
Are we going to train everyone regarding the above and keep competency folders on ourselves as far as our lab skills go?
Can will bill ourselves?
Do we need CPT code?
ICD10 codes?
Before the test, do I need to ask myself if I smoke?
Should I ask myself about my gender and preferred pronouns?
Do I need to identify myself with 2 unique identifiers?
Can I ask myself for a picture ID?
What sort of patient satisfaction survey tool do I need to email myself after the test?

So…what you’re saying is, the government is giving out free toilet paper now. Because that’s all that dumb shite is good for. Maybe free tampons for you? I dunno what they look like. Just feel like I could at least take the wrapper off and wipe my arse with it, maybe send what’s inside to you to keep your pussy from bleeding.

You don’t see the problem? Causing people without symptoms to have to line up to get tested just to travel or go to to work (via their own guidelines) is driving the curve
If you’re not symptomatic, who gives a frick what you do. If others are worried about you, they can keep a distance and wear a mask.
If youre symptomatic (with Covid or not) and a normal healthy person, just stay home and assume you have it
If you’re symptomatic and symptoms are getting severe or are an at risk population THEN you should go to urgent care or hospital to get tested and treated.
Instead we have all three of these groups mingling together and overrunning the system and leading to a supply shortage. fLaTtEn tHe cUrVe

Great! Now I can do my own Covid test.
You see, it I test positive. I can go around vaxxers and test their vaccines. See if they work or not.
