Anyone following this Trevor Jacob plane bail and crash?

To get this out of the way, I know:
I don't know how I got sucked into this, but I am. This guy is a D-list action sports star and budding Youtuber. In November, he promised to spread his friend's ashes. His friend, Johnny Strange, a mountaineer / BASE jumper / wingsuit guy that died during wingsuit accident in Switzerland in 2015. He was supposedly taking a trip to Mammoth Lakes to spread the ashes 6 years later.
This Trevor Jacob flew a newly purchased albeit vintage plane and allegedly experienced engine out trouble. He decided to bail out using his conveniently equipped parachute while the selfie stick keeps his face in view. He lands safely and the plane crashes. He goes to the plane for what he says is water jug, but only finds and retrieves GoPro camera gear. He hikes and is eventually found by farmers. Of course (some of) this event is recorded and posted on Youtube. Controversy ensues.
ORIGINAL CRASH VIDEO
Reactions:
Trevor Jacob we have some questions...
What the FAA might look for (including interview from the plane's mechanic)
Another Pilot's reactions
There's a whole lot more videos out there.
Anyone else following this?
UPDATE: FAA revoked his license on 4/11/22. New York Times LINK

Convenient shots he got with positioned cameras.

It's fricking insane how narcissistic we've become from social media.

It was always there, lurking just under the surface. Social media just brought it out.

I hope the FAA destroys that piece of shite.

I don't know anything about flying, but I've seen pilots saying that even if the engine was totally gone that plane could glide down. This dude is a dipshit who was looking for attention and he's found it. It just happens to be from the FAA

This cat is about to find out what happens when a federal regulatory agency (re: FAA) crawls up his arse.

Ol’ baw wanted his friend’s ashes to be laid to rest in a plane crash. Seems pretty straightforward.
Btw I noticed fricking Scooby in the comments lmao - dude went from being the Bob Ross of YouTube fitness to a complete schizophrenic bragging about he and his husband pounding each other’s dung funnels every night.

That Trent Palmer reaction video does a great job breaking down the video and pointing out all the issues leading people to believe it was a stunt. Yikes.

I have no idea who this baw is and I know nothing about planes.
No doubt he crashed the plane for views.

Dude is a fricking clown.
Worst part is, this stunt he pulled is going to have long-term effects on pilots who do follow FARs.
It’s only a matter of time before one of these idiots pull a stunt that kills themselves or worse…someone on the ground

The multiple cameras is all I needed to see. Don't need some dude on a reaction video to tell me it was intentional.

My kid who wants to be a pilot and has this sweet flight sim got the GPS coordinates and tried to recreate the flight. He landed easily the first time and there where places to land all over the place... it's not like the guy was flying a twin engine jet... He was flying basically a bush plane.
Total BS.
Total BS.

The plane did glide down... into a mountainside, but still it was in a glide the whole way.

As a pilot myself, I find this whole “crash” to be highly suspect.

We used to do shite like this in Grand Theft Auto - just YOLO out of a helicopter to see what happens.
Imagine the thought process (or lack of) that leads someone in real life to say, “imma just drop this plane out of the sky bro! Watch, this is gonna be hilarious bro!”
