Is there any point to following recruiting anymore?

I never was a big recruiting follower, but it seems like NIL and the transfer portal have made following the whims of teenagers even more futile.
People used to justify following some dumbass kid's decisions (I don't respect it, sorry) because they would become a member of their beloved university for at least a few years.
Now we've got dipshits flipping before they even play a game.
So what exactly is the point of following annoying arse idiot kids on social media who have zero loyalty to your school?
Chances are even if they commit, they'll end up transfering, leaving early for the NFL or opting out of key games 1-2 years in.
In short, I feel like the recruiting nerd era has officially ended.

Just like it's always been the teams with the best players have the best chances to win. It's just more to follow nowadays with both recruiting and now the transfer portal.

The better question would be is there any point in following college football anymore? The nil era combined with the transfer portal for me is going to make college football much less interesting to follow.

I feel like it's 180 degrees the other way.
As a fan, if you want to unplug from the craziness, NP. I get it. it's information overload.
for the teams and coaches, talent evaluation is at a premium now more than ever. the better teams will be the ones who sign and keep good classes and can spot diamonds in the portal to help their team.
the days of taking a kid as a project to develop, appears to be on the decline. not to say it can't still happen, and some programs will live in that space. but now, for teams competing to get into the CFB playoff, it's a 24/7 365 talent evaluation cycle focused on the now and who can contribute right away. IMO even nerdier than before.

If a 17 year old making his college decision takes an emotional toll on you then yeah you should stop.
Reality is - in 10 years this isnt going to be college football. These kids will get agents, there will be ongoing negotiations and sophomores or juniors unhappy about their deals will hold out.
They killed college football.

Yeah, it was already a lopsided an unequitable sport. NIL has made it even worse.

Agree totally why spend $$$ on recruiting coordinators and their staffs and expense accounts. Better to spend monies on tutors who make sure they can stay in school more than one year or even a single semester

It all seems to be a big uncontrolled mess. The last I looked there were 1800 in the portal. Most wont get another team to bite but will be like ex LSU player Manny Netherly. Still without a team.

To be honest none of this is new. Kids been transferring and kids been getting paid. The only difference is the bagmen are now called agents,it’s public and open discussion also the price range has risen.
