Tired of hearing that bowl games are meaningless

In the standings, sure, the game means nothing. It has zero impact on the current season, unless you are in the CFP.
With that said, it would say a lot about a player if he half assed it in a bowl because he didn’t care. A great competitor wants to win everything, always.
We also hear that bowl games are ‘for the fans’. How many players really can afford to not care about a bowl? After the NFL prospects opt out, then what? If you are a second teamer with a chance to play, that’s a huge opportunity to step up against a solid opponent while playing on national TV.
Look at some of these schools that make bowls. Are you telling me kids from the MAC wouldn’t be excited about going to the Bahamas? I’m sure kids from Western Kentucky could find a way to enjoy time in the Boca Raton area. CUSA players going to Hawaii…where do I sign up for that?
While the result on the field may not be of importance in those games, the process involved with extra practices and the chance for a guy to get a rare chance to start should be huge.
Maybe the Rose Bowl isn’t important enough for WR (fill in the blank) from Ohio State, but I bet it’s a pretty big deal to the vast majority on the team.
Sorry, I just don’t buy the idea that these games are meaningless exhibitions for fans. There is a lot of competitive juice on that field anytime you suit up.

They are as meaningful as a spring game.

I'm guessing you have 4 years of eligibility left, go show those kids how to do it.

The extra practice time and reps are invaluable to the younger guys.

I don’t know if ALL non-CFP bowls are meaningless, but one thing’s for sure, the Birmingham Bowl is meaningless.

They were meaningless last year according to SEC haters when teams with losing records were knocking off ranked teams.

Who says this? Most programs stick it up the fans arse, and make them buy shite seats they were allotted.
It's for ESPN, and their partners. That's it
Ok, for Seniors who know this is their last game, ever, playing CFB.

Even when they are not semifinal games, the Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl, and Fiesta Bowl trophies are still worth playing hard for and still worth rooting for your team to win.

Bowl games are meaningless.
Particularly the ones with 6-6 and 7-5 teams, and the ones with schools/conferences you’ve never heard of.

Bowl games are meaningless for most fans and players getting ready for the NFL.
Most hardcore fans are going to watch every game. Which seems like a giant waste of time but do as you shall. My father in law, RIP, used to watch every Pirates baseball game. Which to me quite meaningless because they've been terrible for years but he's a hardcore fan. I just can't waste my time.
I look forward to every college football seasons but when my team loses its second game, I pretty much lose interest because I know we are heading to a meaningless bowl and are out of the playoffs.
Expand the playoffs and get rid of the bowls and people/players will be more vested in the product.
NFL keeps you invested all season because it usually come down to the last week to see who get in the playoffs.

they're exhibition games played weeks after all the other games.
quote:you're so cute. these guys basically have little life during the season. in your ideal mind you think these guys really want to go through a bunch of hassle over one exhibition game? They love the games but the games are only 1% of the experience.
A great competitor wants to win everything, always.
