Which Series to Start? Wheel of time or Witcher?

TV has me wanting more. The Witcher has really captivated me, both the games and the Netflix series. Wheel of Time was terrible but it was so hyped that I know the books must be really good. Which would you recommend?

Not even close. Wheel of Time.

Wheel of Time is a way better book series.

How long do you want to be reading it? WOT is 5 million words. 10 times as many as the lord of the rings, 5 times more than game of thrones (to date).
I’ve read the first four of wot and had to pause and now feel like having to read a detailed recap to get back into it. It’s enjoyable but not as captivating as I found Thrones or lord of the rings.

It depends on what you are looking for, both are very good series. Witcher is darker fantasy (much like the show), where WOT is more old school fantasy with good versus evil.
Wheel of time is way longer in terms of pages and books, 14 1000ish page books versus 2 short story books and 5 main series books that average in the 350-400 page range.
I'd say the high points of WOT are better than Witcher, but Witcher is more consistent.

I think I'll wait until I retire to start reading Wheel of Time. I just don't think I can invest the time needed at this point in my life. That and Malazan.

Do the WOT audiobooks. My daily commute is 35-50 minutes each way so I knock out a lot of books that way.

Never read the Witcher, but it seems like that is what you are geared towards so I would start with that.
Wheel of Time is an all-time great and foundational series of the genre so get to it when you feel you are in the right mindset for that undertaking.

Start with the witcher. It will take wayyyyyy less time. Then you can start the colossal wheel of time grind after.
The witcher also starts off really easy with the short stories

I read a lot, not as much as I used to; but I still try and read on a daily basis. WOT and Malazan were so interesting at first but drag on for so long that it's tough for me to stick with them.
I think I'm on 6th WOT book and 5th book of Malazan.
