Schools should just start benching all seniors and draft eligible players after they are out of CFP contention. Draft eligible players would have less tape to go pro and seniors aren’t worth anything at that point anyway!

Sorry I’m not a big baller like you apparently but what do you mean by that won’t get him far? That’s a lot of money if you are smart with it lol.
Also you can still get a degree while playing or after playing pro football.

I don’t think there are many NFL teams that are going to watch the LSU/Kansas State film to decide to draft a player

I'm afraid that the old school model of teams playing bowl games in which all the starters showcase for one final performance and you get to enjoy two teams at 100% going at each other is for the most part, dead.
Unless they expand the amount of teams in the playoff, we will see the bowls that aren't playoff games like this for now on. Like another poster said, they will be more or less an early spring training scrimmage for players not going pro.

A big showing in a bowl game goes a long way on draft day.

It’s also a later than usual bowl game being January 4th.
The only game that should be played after January 1 is the championship unless schedules fall on Sunday. There is no reason mediocre bowls shouldn’t be wrapped up by then.

YOu best give us a shout out if you do

I'm cool with Clark not playing.
He's already earned a lot of money this season. We don't know what kind of nagging injuries these guys have.
Sampah, White, and Penn needs to play and build some confidence going into the offseason.
Playing and building some confidence in the younger guys may prevent them jumping in the transfer portal.

I can name one. Money. ESPN paid for the rights to broadcast the game on that day. There is no other football game on and live sports is still the biggest moneymaker for advertising on tv.

Going to tell the guy who either needs to play (for NFL purposes) or wants to play (because they just want to) after 3 or 4 years that he can't because of the other guy who didn't?
This is taking something away from someone who earned it and wants to be there for the action of another who may, or may not, have a good reason for sitting out.
I'm not totally opposed to barring those who choose to not play access to some or all of the training facilities. After all, the goal is to play games- if not going to play you shouldn't have access to all the things that go with it. I'm hesitant about the message that sends... but it is worth considering. But to take anything away from the guy who is going to play- no way in hell.

Sounds good to me. Looking forward to seeing what we can do with some of these guys who really want to play and get out there

quote:no, it's not the fans' fault and it has nothing to do with the playoffs.
And it’s college football’s and the fan’s own fault by putting too much emphasis on the CFP and saying terms like “meaningless bowl games”.
The reason most bowls are meaningless is because there are far too many bowls. This year, there are 42 bowls, which means 84 out of 130 FBS teams go bowling. So yes, most of those bowl games are indeed meaningless.
Back in 1982, for example, there were 16 bowls games, so most of them were actually meaningful, and players and fans cared. Not now.
And the playoff isn't much different than the big 4 bowls that have been around forever. The Rose, Sugar, Orange, Cotton (and then the Fiesta) have always dominated bowl season. Now, the playoffs use two of them in the playoffs, and will use more of them when the playoff expands, and the others get NY6 status. And people care.
But nobody cares about the 25-30 garbage bowls, and rightfully so.

They should have tryouts to fill the roster

going undrafted isn't a great way to get paid.
It’s not too bad a way to get paid. Plenty UDFA’s make rosters. minimum salary is $700k next year. Practice squad guys are paid $11,500 a week which isn’t bad either.
