In 2018, Ensminger had Burrow, Chase, Jefferson, Marshall, Helaire, and the entire O line -- and did nothing with it. In the 2019, the offense exploded. I wonder what the difference was.

I know what you think it is but anyone who truly understands the game would say Burrow actually having a full year of development as well as all those wr's in 2018 was huge. Burrow developing chemistry and timing with those wr's in spring and fall camp and individual summer workouts. The mere fact Burrow may be the best leader we have ever had and was able to study football all the time. People forget how great the offense played at the end of 2018 also. JJ and JC have had great rookie years. JB and CEH got injured in their rookie years but both were playing at a high level...they have excelled without Brady on different teams.

Caught balls vs dropped balls it's that easy. 2018 balls were hitting the ground at an alarming rate typically in a critical situation... 2019 summer of 10k catches & hardly shiznit hit the ground. Just sayin

I'm all for Brady coming back but to think Steve E. isn't a capable playcaller is asine.

We didn’t drop 9% of our third down passes.

And in 2020 we definitely didnt drop 15%

And if you look at the Redzone numbers it s just super clear Steve is a very uninspiring Redzone playcaller.

Cam Newton may have been the issue.

Newton can not run the full Brady offensive package.

Brady may not have been flexible enough to incorporate the now limited skillset of Newton into the offense.

Newton, Rhule, and Brady had a dust up and Brady lost.

Ok. Fact still remains in 18 balls were hitting the ground that in 19 did not. Doesn't mater, a dropped pass puts the offense in a bad position but of course you know this. The combination of Brady/Coach E. was $$$$$$ neither deserves more credit. The run was epic bring them both back but 19 was about the coaches/players. That type of alignment is Generational.

then every school in the nation should do that, and nobody, anywhere, would drop any passes.

Who knew all we need to go from pedestrian in 2018 to historically spectacular in 2019 was a Jugs machine?

but let's not pretend that we were running all these super tricky plays that nobody else has ever thought of in 2019
nobody ever said that. Tricky plans aren't what a good offense is about. It's about keeping the defense guessing, and running plays/routes that maximize the skills of the players we have vs. the weaknesses of the defenders, and puts our guys in position to make plays.

A lot of our big plays were just go routes that ended up being 50/50 balls and Chase & Jefferson were incredible at going up and getting them. For the most part we simply executed better than the other team.
that's just nonsense.

Dropped balls hurt for sure. Pretending they were all on 3rd down or in the Redzone is dumb.
