If a Heisman award is for the best NCAA football player, please tell me how Hutchinson is a finalist over Clark.

Aiden Hutchinson (Michigan - DE)
TOT SOLO AST SACK FF FR YDS INT
58 33. 25 14 2 1 0 0

Damone Clark (LSU - LB)
TOT SOLO AST SACK FF FR YDS INT
136 78 58 5.5 2 1 0 1

Bc Michigan is 12-1 and we are 6-6. Does this even need to be said?

Because an edge rusher with 14 sacks is pretty massive. Not to mention the impact he's had that don't show up on the stat sheets. The only argument we should be having about Clark is why he didn't win the Butkus. But it's clear your team record is more important than production on the field.

Yeah, 14 sacks is the key. He is a pass rusher, not an inside linebacker. And he has impacted a lot of games.

So, it’s a TEAM award & not the best PLAYER?

Michigan is still Michigan. They finally beat OSU , so the media gives them a Heisman finalist.

Hutchinson impacts the game much more than Clark. He dominated against Ohio st. And Iowa on the big stage. I watched both games. He’s in the backfield every play.

Aaron Donald
TOT SOLO AST SACK FF FR YDS INT
56----21-----35-----7------2---0----0----0

Cole Holcomb
TOT SOLO AST SACK FF FR YDS INT
102----63----39----1-------2---1----0----1

This is what happens when you compare two players with no regard for scheme or position.

One is a 1st ballot HOFer, 3 time defensive player of the year, 6 time First team all-pro, 7 time pro bowler who Pro football focus has rated as the top rated defender in the entire NFL.

The other is a LB and PFF has graded as the 49th best LB, not just defender in the NFL.

They are not in the same stratosphere despite Holcomb almost doubling the tackles, just as many FFs, 1 more fumble recoveries and an INT

Yeah two of those games being the biggest games of the season for Michigan. Ohio St. and the big ten championship. It matters what you do in high stakes games.
