Why is Brad Davis mentioned among the coaches we want to retain?

Why is his name mentioned among the coaches we want to retain? The O-line was our achilles heal for half the season and was one of, if not the worst, unit in the conference for a good part of the season. To his credit, it did improve as the year went on. But still…is this really someone we should retain? Only pro I see is that Will Cambell likes him which certainly is a plus for him…

Yes, he’s very well respected in coaching circles and learned under Sam Pittman who might be the best in the country. He’s also from BR so he knows Louisiana and the south really well.

Excuses are that he was unable to coach bad players LSU recruited and he only had several months in the summer to teach them.

It’s all perspective. I think Davis did a really good job developing the line this season.

He got there in the summer and turned a dog shite unit into something serviceable by the end of the year. There was a magnitude of improvement between UCLA and Texas A&M. Also, he can recruit.

This excuses are valid. He was hired in June.

He got here in March inherited a sack of shite and got us to play better down the stretch.
He’s a proven sec coach with BR ties he deserves a shot to bring in his players over the next two years.

He was given an empty deck plus he came on so late. He deserves a chance. He did a hell of a job at Arkansas. Plus he’s a solid recruiter

BK is known for having really good O-lines. He'll hire the coaches that he's comfortable with. Keeping Faulk and Raymond are no-brainers for him.

He was asked to work a miracle on short notice after years of lazy coaching and recruiting by Cregg & Moffitt with a revolving group largely devoid of talent.
I think he’s a good coach that was stuck in a bad culture and situation. The question is whether or not he can fix it

I wouldn’t mind keeping him but if we can grab Quinn from ND that’s a no brainer

Not a single ND fan has anything good to say about Quinn

They had nothing good to say about Kelly either. I don’t give a shite about what they think
Look at the dudes they’ve put in the league. That ain’t an accident

Common reaction from jilted fans. Lots of Miami Dolphin fans and LSU fans had nothing good to say about Saban back in the day. I think he's done pretty well at Bama.

And he came at a really strange time. He didn't come with the other hires.

Granted, Pittman is top-5 OL coaches in CFB, and I'm sure Davis picked up alot... but let's not pretend Pittman has been his mentor in all things OL.

Most of those guys seem to be products of the previous OL coach. Quinn took over in 2018.
Now Harry Heistand is with the bears now and if he’s out of a job soon, I’d take him

Scheme can put Oline on skates.
Ensminger with Davis would have been better.
Also, we lost how many OL before and during the season.
Dellinger was a LT by seasons end while he is really an interior.
