Means I assisted the S&C coaches…..was I a coach? Nope. Did I see first hand the application of training? Yes.
That said, it was a long time ago. The Gayle Hatch days…..

Pisses me off to no end that we lost this kid to the 4-3, then 5/6 of the way through the season got our heads out of our arse and went back to the 3-4.
I’m still fricking giddy clown O is gone.

Exactly this.

My question is how much of a great S&C program is on the shoulders of the S&C coach vs a head coach and culture that will push the players to follow the programs required?

Considering I have had hands on experience with the application of S&C for a P5 school, I’ll take your rant to heart
no you didn’t, and if you did, you weren’t the architect because you don’t know what you’re talking about. I’d love to hear what your actual role was at whichever school you did it at

And, my point was instituting elements of HIIT into the training program
Ok...figured you were going to circle back in your reply, so why did you feel the need to act like “Olympic/explosive” is inferior if you weren’t insinuating that the program would be based around HIIT? What would be foundation of the program even be if not Olympic style lifts? That makes no sense in context, again, if you actually understand the big picture of the program and what the goals of the program are.
Especially when you’re sitting here acting like explosive lifts should be a “piece of a program” when they are at the core of every good program in the country. That’s not my opinion or debatable, it’s an objective fact. But let me guess: that’s another thing that you actually agree with me on but just wanted to show your arse to be controversial?
quote:
I said explosive trading has a place…….don’t be so damned sensitive
I didn’t come into this thread to talk shite or question anyone’s knowledge buddy, especially when what I said wasn’t that controversial and you literally agreed with what I said after you said “100% disagree” and made some random smug comment, but at the same time, we can gladly debate if you want to open that can of worms on one of the 2 or 3 things I truly consider myself an expert on in life.
This is why no one who actually knows anything comes on here anymore FYI. I’ve watched people on the MSB tell a UFC fighter that he doesn’t understand MMA. Some of y’all just can’t help yourselves and it’s so annoying

Hence your sensitivity to my Olympic lifting comment
Olympic lifters aren’t the ones who are sensitive to anything, powerlifting guy. I’ve done every powerlift thousands of times and they’ve always been a staple in every program I’ve done. Y’all are the ones with a weird complex about not doing oly lifts and doing some hairbrained halfass programs
That being said, I’ve never in my entire life seen a good S&C program that doesn’t focus on olympic lifts and their auxiliary lifts I.E. the compound lifts. I’d love for you to prove me wrong on that lol

The rough thing is that I feel like this is a multi-year project on the S&C front. I think it’ll be the longest rebuild of all the compartmentalized rebuilds Kelly will have to undergo
Quite the opposite.

it’ll take a full year or two to get our athletes 100% where they should be, you can only recompose so much in 7-8 months
In the next 7-8 months all the players will be completely transformed. Have you ever been in a legit S&C program? For reference, Chad Jones came in at 175 and left somewhere around 230lbs. In the off-season before his freshman year he put on 25lbs. That’s what a new S&C can do for us over the next 7-8 months.

Who did train under? Hatch or Pierce maybe?

We have been beaten one on one on the line of scrimmage for many years

Moffit failed and we ended up with fat out of shape slobs.
He was probably also potentially toxic.
Imagjne the conversations to the players. That’s not how we did it under Saban, Miles or Orgeron …
