We have a LOT of snow melting up here this week and torrential rains coming by the weekend. I expect the Mississippi is gonna get up some?
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday
A deep area of low pressure will move toward the region at the end
of week, bringing the potential for high winds and mountain waves
across the high terrain and foothills of the eastern TN
mountains.
The storm system may also produce locally heavy rainfall, including
over the areas of western NC that are deeply snow covered. As some
of our area rivers flow westward from those mountainous areas
into east Tennessee and and southwest Virginia, there is some
potential for river flooding to occur by this weekend as rainfall
and snowmelt combine impacts.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
Spotter activation will not be needed.

I don't think Virginia and NC flooding is going to affect the Mississippi river.

If it’s west of the Appalachians it will. It shows the river dropping out after this weekend but but that doesn’t take into account for rainfall past 24hrs into the future. I’m thinking it’s going to get on up there in January.

Official forecast takes into account 48 hrs of forecast rain. There is also an experimental forecast published by NWS that uses 16 days of modeled rainfall...which shows the river bouncing right back up after a brief fall.

Yeah, I think were one or two really good rains away north of Memphis from some bad flooding
