I don't agree with the logic he is using, but I agree with the underlying premise. US border security and Ukraine aid are two entirely different fundings. They have no business being tied to each other. Schedule votes foe both uniquely.
One of the larger reasons our government is fricked is because both sides will not vote to pass items that they both agree on are good and necessary. They instead insist on trying to hold the good thing hostage with something they know the other side hates.

You are making the assumption that Ukraine is our problem, and also the assumption that we are the world's policeman.
If we are to follow your assumptions, we need to get back to Korea and Vietnam, figure out Cuba and Venezuela, and who knows why we ever left Iraq and Afghanistan. Also why don't we have troops on the ground in Gaza and Sudan?
We are not the world's policeman. The 1991 borders of Ukraine are not necesarily the correct borders just because that's where the pencil drew when the Soviets gave up.

It must've been fine with our govt since over the last 20 years that is exactly what Russia has told us they would do if we moved one step closer with NATO.
