Baw, forget the Trump hate for just a moment and it’ll come back to you what the scene was like then. Biden hadn’t noticeably deteriorated yet, and they lied to everyone inasmuch as painting a portrait of Biden as being Every Man Joe, a moderate and experienced statesman who would bring everyone together to the middle. And in a measured way restore our respect on the world stage. That’s what many, many folks thought they’d bought. So no, the peoples saw him as something completely different than the actual real thing.
On a side note, he literally did the polar opposite of every bit of that listed above. And in spectacular fashion. It boggles the mind.

19-20 bellwether counties voted for Trump.
Ohio and Florida voted for Trump. No GOP candidate has ever won the Presidency without Ohio.
10+ million more voted for Trump in 2020 than '16. The most of any sitting US President.
