I am actually looking forward to this one, I think a lot can be done with pre-wonka kingdom

I’ve heard more “normie” moviegoers excited for this than pessimistic about it.
I suspect it does well, and the loaners on this board will continue to not understand the desires of the people around you

Ad I saw today seemed to really be pumping up Hugh Grant as the head Oompa Loompa.

Don't care either way, but how many of these Willy Wonka movies are they going to make?

It suppose to be a prequel, which mean Charlie and the Chocolate factory is the main story. Which means the black girl who was supposedly Wonka's friend back stabbed him, might just be the one who tried to steal his recipe. Disney who pushing for ESG don't get how fricked up it look that a black girl stole his recipe and a white boy saved his company.

If Disney is involved then expect crap and another 300 million thrown down the drain. Until they have a complete overall at the tops of their entertainment divisions anything they come up with will be a total waste of money.

Why is that fricked up? Seems realistic to me

Think it looks fun and I’m sure my kids will enjoy it around the holidays.
Probably what it was made for in the first place.

Agreed. I love all things Wonka. I'm looking forward to it.

As they should. Grant seems to be having a moment with his wonderful turn as the villain in Dungeons and Dragons and some other roles. He is hilarious and a great actor. This movie will suck in spite of him though.

The previews look pretty good. Not sure what you’re on about.

But, it's not needed. I LOVE Roald Dahl. Read every one of his books to my kids. There already *is* a sequel, that Dahl wrote, to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Why is it that we can't have a Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator? Rumor was that the Dahl estate hated the Gene Wilder version so badly that they refused the rights to GGE. Supposedly Tim Burton had to beg to get clearance to make his version. While more faithful to the book, it doesn't have near the heart that the Wilder version has.

WTF does this mean? Films are meant for entertainment. No one is forced to watch them.

For me it's about the lack of creativity and quality of entertainment and the overall artform. Movie makers are just piggybacking on old successes delivering a disappointing product that could never possibly live up to the original thing they are ripping off. Come up with something new. It's the same shite in music.
