Variety: Lando now a film

What will the narrative be if Lando fails?

It must be nice to be able to make garbage and then blame the consumer.

Solo flopped because it was on the heels of The Last Jedi and because nobody can replace Harrison Ford as Han Solo

Lando would probably be pretty good as an animated series. Disney is likely looking at another disappointment if they make it a big budget movie though.

If they want to do a movie between ep3 and 4 involving scoundrels and spice runners, give us Maul and Crimson Dawn

Damn, I really wanted Donald Glover doing Shaft in Space, especially if he has a frienemy in Hondo (played by Johnny Depp, of course)

they also spent like the 4 month leading up to it talking nonstop about how it was garbage and Ron Howard was frantically trying to save it

ultimately i thought it was decent. I enjoyed it.

This is the only reason imo.

They've spent the years since convincing themselves otherwise.

It released like 5-6 months later and they didn’t even start marketing anything until after the Super Bowl, where it’s first teaser trailer was shown.

That+ all the stories about how Ron Howard had to save it.

They let that movie fail before it even came out. I thought it was alright.

Yep. Pure backlash.

He made the character, but Solo was not a bad movie at all. It was like the rest of the class getting punished because of one frickhead classmate.

Movies about white men...

Like Oppenheimer?

Top Gun: Maverick?

Spiderman: No Way Home?

Joker?

John Wick 4?

I actually enjoyed Solo once I saw it but I refused to pay for it because of TLJ

Solo got unfairly shite on - was it perfect? no, but it was damn enjoyable. like Rogue One, i thought it was one of the better efforts put out for SW in a while. shame the new trilogy really jaded folks

I also waiting for it to stream.

I feel bad for the lead actor, his career took a pretty major hit because of it.

I thinknhes now starting to bounce back, but between Solo and now he was in like 1 tv series that had 1 season

Yeah it's not terrible. Better than a lot (most?) of the Disney Star Wars junk that has come out since then.

this is getting into conspiracy theory territory, but with the shitty marketing and the timing of the release not long after the abysmal Last Jedi, it was almost like they wanted it to fail so they could blame it on it being a story about a white male.

Same. Wasn't there "reports" that they had to hire an onset acting coach for him because he was "so bad"? Don't know if the reason because he was playing a iconic character or making him the fall guy.
