Heading to Jackson,MS this weekend-NSFW

I'm heading to Jackson tonight and will be staying through the weekend for business. Since it is V-day , my wife will be joining me. We already have dinner plans for Friday night but I am struggling with what to do before heading back to the hotel ( 
)
Can any Jackson based OTers point a guy towards a good bar/live music venue?

I know man. Not my first choice for romantic getaways but it is what it is..and she's been been great about it.
She has chosen to go with me. I'm in no way forcing the issue.

People go out to Hal and Mal's or George Street whatever it's called, but I think those places kind of suck.
People are getting robbed/assaulted in downtown Jackson so I'd steer clear of it.
Don't drink the water.

If you drink, just know Rankin County is a DUI hotspot.

Could go to shuckers or Fondren public. Fondren public doesnt have live music, it's mainly just a hang out spot. Hal and Mals is another option, but unless they have a big name band, it kind of sucks.

thanks for the insight guys. I've never been to Jackson and could have gone my entire life without but it is unavoidable this weekend.
