WWE announces new TV deal... then starts firing people

WWE has announced that Smackdown is moving back to USA Network (still Friday nights) in October 2024 as part of a 5-year deal (there are rumors of it maybe becoming a 3-hour show like Raw... but that's not confirmed yet)
Part of that deal is WWE will produce 4 prime time specials for NBC annually
The above only deals with SD & the new quarterly prime time specials... the futures of Raw & NXT are still up in the air at this moment
Then a list of names starts coming out as WWE releases numerous on-screen talents (most probably not surprising but some are)
Dolph Ziggler (going to join his brother? he was on BTE recently)
Elias
Mustafa Ali
Shelton Benjamin
Emma
Aaliyah
Rick Boogs
AJ Francis (Top Dolla)
Riddick Moss (Madcap Moss)
Obviously these cuts are cost-cutting measures related to the recent merger/sale

None of those cuts seem like a big deal to me. With them going back to cable, does that mean they will be able to start cursing again and being more “adult” like in the attitude era?

Doubtful... WWE likely wants to make sure kids are able to take in the product... start 'em young

No... just saying that part of WWE's TV package hasn't finished being negotiated yet

What happened to Dolph Ziggler it's like WWE gave up on trying to do anything with him even though he could have main evented consistently at least more than the spurt runs he had as champion that lasted like fifteen minutes. Maybe he is limited on the microphone and or undersized. He's like in his 40s now so that doesn't help I guess.
That's like six times Shelton has been released.
AEW finna eat with some of these FA's.

Elias was over like a motherfricker, not long ago.
My cheap, shut-in arse paid good money for tickets and drove to see him at the BR River Center, a few years back. I’d not been to a show in years, but paid to see Elias play guitar and do his thing.
It’s criminal how he was mis-used.

Dolph, Elias, Boogs, and Moss are the big losses there. They could have done more with them.

Well, for starters, he has a fricking stupid ring name for a guy who is supposed to be a serious character.

Where had Aaliyah been anyway?
They had Mustafa hidden on NXT recently.
