How can an old analog phone display Caller ID but a fricking 2023 smart phone can't?

I just don't understand how in the 90s we had caller ID on phones but in the year 2023, Smartphones still do not have the capability to display caller ID (unless you download some dumb app or something)
It just does not make sense to me.
Does anybody know the reson for this?
I can pretty much do every fricking thing I want to on my phone, but I still have no idea who calls me from numbers I do not know. It's insane to me

I am utterly baffled as to what you're talking about because every modern phone shows the number every single time.

Apple is spying on you while airing commercials about how secure your phone is. It's secure, from you.

Are you telling me that when a phone call comes in you look at your screen and it's fricking blank?

Likewise, so can the spammers. Plus with spoof numbers it really isn’t accurate no matter what phone you have.

You bitch an awful lot about things.
And my iPhone has always displayed caller ID without an app. So this is odd.

Switch from a Motorola to a PrimeCo phone

Have you updated your contacts?
Do you have your contacts uploaded to your profile?

It used to display a name (even unknown numbers)

Spoof numbers are a problem right now.

I’m talking about if someone I do not know or do not have in my contact list calls me, it does not display the name of the Human being or business name of whom is trying to call me.
Now my phones at work on a landline displays this information, but my cellphone (smartphone) does not.

I dial 10+10+321 so you don't see it's me.

My phone says spam number likely any time its a spammer. Some numbers show a name and others don't tho i think it depends how the other persons account is setup.

Growing up numbers that called were in the phone book.
