Yea no need to worry.

The miniature golf courses, t shirt shops, tawdriness and inauthenticity are all in full bloom.

It’s still as trashy as ever, if anything the fire increased the amount of trashiness by providing more room for shitty moonshine places and other terrible tourist traps.

You can still get as much taffy, moonshine, and pocket knives as a man needs.

We went for Mardi Gras. The towns themselves are fine. Taking the tram up to Ober Gatlinburg you can see much of the damage from the fires. There were a good number of bare foundations on the mountainside. I think that was the biggest impact: homes and rental properties.

Steer clear of Pigeon Forge and downtown Gatlin unless you want to treat yourself to a good breakfast. Other than that we stay deep in the park. Outside of the increasingly commercial part of the mountains, the park is beautiful. If you have enough time to plan, camp in Elkmont. Great spots tucked away on the river. Awesome get away..

More open today than before the fire. You can notice damage but there is growth around the burned areas now.

It’s amazing. People know what to expect when they go but there’s always those who have to warn you that it’s a tourist town.

It's good. Most businesses that were affected are reopened.

I went in November and thought the opposite.

The fires were able to hand-forge twenty new knife and throwing star shops
