Baylor is going to build a new arena and they were going to name it after Coach Mulkey. She chose LSU. Let's say she told my source timing is everything.
Other issues involved with on campus arena and off campus. Who cares now.

LSU isn't building a new arena. And if they were, it wouldn't seat anywhere near 25,000. Those days are over in college sports.
Smaller venues, but much nicer, are the way forward.
I think they could do that in the PMAC with a major remodel.

The circular structure of the PMAC will make it very hard and expensive to remodel.
It would be better financially just to build new.

It’s pretty clear Mulkey was told by Baylor the arena was going to be on campus, then reneged when the City of Waco offered a significant amount of money to have it built off-campus.
Most coaches would back down, but not Mulkey. She holds people to account and she obviously didn’t like the way things are trending with regard to the arena now.
She may be hardheaded, but stupid she is not. She knows she’s a commodity and acted like it. Nothing wrong with that.

Baylor just announced earlier this month the new arena and basketball facilities were on hold due to budget cuts.

They still could name it or a portion of the arena (like the court) after her. She's a Baylor sports legend.
However, Scott Drew just won a men's basketball title. Maybe he wins a couple more, and Baylor would feel justified naming it after him. Or have both of their names on it in a few years (Scott-Mulkey Arena), like Bryant-Denny Stadium in Alabama.
