Fehoko: Dominating Georgia is the benchmark, standard of what LSU football needs to be

Fehoko hits the nail on the head. Consistency. Winning the battle in the trenches. No excuses.
The value of senior leadership and ingraining this mentality in the team cannot be overstated.

"You look at how we played against Georgia. I think that's kinda the benchmark now and the standard of what LSU football needs to be... Both sides of the ball we had our way up front... When you have a game like that against the #2 or #3 team in the nation, there's really no more excuse not to do that no more."

If only the Oline weren’t so afraid of Bama....

It really is an unbelievable mental block. The Oline performs worse against bama than teams like ULM do against us. I mean come on for christ sake the delta isn't that large.

Wade uses a sports psychologist. O should do the same.

I still don't know how you could look so good vs UGA and so poor vs Bama.
The Bama game is the one they need to focus on. What can you learn from a game where everything clicked?

Be grateful that their offensive coordinator was dumb enough to resort to passing against the best secondary in the country after they gashed us in the run game for half a quarter?
We won convincingly but that's a tighter game if they don't start chucking the ball around for no reason at all.

Citadel’s oline did a better job against Bama, let that sink in. It is definitely mental. You don’t push around Georgia and then look completely lost against Bama if it isn’t mental. Yeah the oline isn’t what it used to be but come on, it’s been pathetic.

The same ones downvoting that oline is afraid post are the same ones that wanted LSU to keep Les Miles before the A&M season finale.

They've been better physically, but the mental aspect and coaching have also heavily come into play. Snowball effect.

The mental aspect goes both ways. Your example is the same exact reason why LSU at times gets shoved around at times in the first half vs directional state schools.

I think this year could be the year that the o-line accepts the challenge in the Bama game. In order for us to stand a chance our OL has to show some fight. They should be more confident with a year of experience playing together and this is almost entirely an upper class OL group. Deculus looks a little better but Saahdiq Charles has busted his arse and he looks phenomenal.

Glad the players feel this way. Sadly it seems the fans don’t feel the same with so many saying they expect LSU to drop a game to team they will be favored against.

Has to be one of the best usernames I've seen on here.

It's almost like LSU adjusted and forced Chaney away from the inside run. Uncanny.

I think truthfully, Alabama gets extremely pumped up for the game. They have a very talented team and one of the best coaches to ever do it. Mixing that plus the fact that their team gets so up for the game, it turns into a bloodbath. Once the game between LSU and Bama has turned into such a big deal they have always come out playing like they want to destroy LSU. There have been a few games since 2011 that we have kept it close, but more often than not they just run over us.

You know why? Because Florida's trash line pushed around like punks and won. Fromm has consistency issues, the run game is less mental and more physical.
They decided to hit us in the mouth w 5 stars and wear us down and it simply didn't work. No reason it shouldn't have, Florida made a fool of us. But football isn't predictable. Those who don't play football will never understand how valuable it is to be pumped up for a game. I mean really pumped. You go out hitting like a tank.

Exactly. Alabama, as well as Florida anm ark Ole poss miss st and especially auburn all play us harder than any team every year.
We get the hardest schedule by default because we've worked our way into this team that's known to be good, should be great, but doesn't always show up and can lose any night. So even Arkansas shows up pumped tf up to play us. It's one of the least known anomalys of our program.

I don’t think it’s necessarily a mental thing.
I just think Saban has this specialized intensity switch that he’s able to flick on for LSU specifically. His team just has a different intensity when they play us vs UGA, TAM, and UA. We’re his annual benchmark game.
LSU needs to find its switch.
