Co worker states that Archie Told LSU that Peyton wanted to come to LSU to start his own legacy (obviously did that at tenn). But that LSU told him they rather josh booty.
I’ve always been under impression that no way in hell any Manning was going to LSU considering we were probably ole piss biggest rivalry at the time
Archie played.
Edit: I mean Archie “went to LSU” as in a negotiation type of role.

Your coworker sounds like a real winner.

Doubt it. LSU was a dumpster fire at that time, and most services had Booty rated higher. So Peyton was never coming here. Would have gone to ole miss 100% until Cooper had to quit playing.

co-worker is full of shite on both counts. This is dumb

couldnt you just look up Archie and see that he went to Ole Miss?
seems like you answered your own question

Peyton was going to Ole Miss until they were out on probation. He then chose Tennessee because they were a MUCH better program at the time.

I don’t mean that Archie literally went to LSU lol. As in, due to being Peyton’s father (like his agent)

You should debate him on Eli.

All Mannings dislike LSU.

It's a shame too. Peyton is my favorite player ever.

1) Your co-worker is an idiot, as another poster already pointed out.
2) Archie would have been perfectly happy had his son gone to LSU - if Cutcliff was the offensive coordinator.
3) Archie, and the Manning sons, have businessmen's perspectives on football. They don't care much about the rah rah stuff. Archie mentored his sons beautifully to maximize their chances of getting to the pros, maximizing their chances of being on a good team in a good market, and maximizing their earnings while there.
I'm familiar with some of the deals that Peyton made to represent companies like Anheuser Busch, and some of the concessions he got are shocking in their audacity. He is making money everywhere as part owner of companies the managing owners of which have never even met him.

Archie hates LSU. He MIGHT not forbid a son or grandson from attending LSU but he would NEVER endorse it.
Just watch the closing scene of The Book of Manning for his reaction to one of his grandkids mentioning attending LSU!
Peyton was smart to avoid both LSU and Ole Miss. Tennessee was his best option. While he is a Manning, he has a strong independent streak.
Eli should have gone to LSU. He would have won a Naty, and he would have opened an opportunity for Cooper in announcing that he was interested in at that time. But Archie Who would have had an aneurysm at LSU! Archie even controlled Eli’s NFL entrance.
