Anything going on? Local alumni association doing anything? Or, just any tips?

I used to live in the apartments next to the arena.
Fado’s is on the block north of the arena and would be my first choice, but it’ll be packed. Clyde’s is also decent for a beer and some oysters, a little less raucous. There is also a green turtle pub located adjacent to the arena.
There aren’t a ton of good simple drinking establishments there to be honest. Go find something on a metro line then take the train over. Red, Yellow and Green all stop at the Arena station (Gallery Place). Metro Center gets red blue and orange and is like 2 blocks.

I met a guy who bartender at Crystal City Sports Bar while working in CC. The owners also owned CCR. He said that they would cycle some of the waitresses back and forth.. if any wanted to make more money they would take a week or two at CCR.

It’s so easy to metro to the arena that you can literally go anywhere
And DC isn’t that big. You can walk it

Stayed at Hotel Monaco across from the arena for a wedding a few years ago, and ChurchKey and City Tap House were solid spots

Correction. The 3:30pm time is a private party at the Wink.
The send off is still at 4:45pm
Meet in the bar by 4:30pm?
