Mond was down

ETA:

4th and 18 was a first down. Ball was initially on their 39 and they got to the LSU 41 for a gain of 20. I don’t know what was up with yellow line (not there in the ESPN replay for some reason).

Formation on the first spike (not the one being mentioned). Contrast that with the next, set play from the same spot.

... and, of course, the formation in the last spike

Looks to me like they got the clock right on the spike though. The circle in the upper right is the football on the ground.

You telling me Mond has a grasp on that football w/ 3 fingers on the point of the football and he has control of it.

Pretty sure I saw the replay 5 times last night and by the time he had "control" of the ball in his full grasp his knee was off the ground.

It was all very fast and very close...but don't bring that picture in here saying he has control of that ball.

You're conceding that the spot was accurate. I think it was at least a yard given. When he caught the ball and hit the ground the ball was on his right hip not his left hip as in your photo.

He doesn't have to have control of it. He just has to be touching it and have a knee down, according to every rule expert that's opined.

Doesn’t have to have control of ball in that situation per announcers

So they needed 18 and got 19. That's still a first down.

By rule once you touch the ball while the ball is on the ground if your knee is also on the ground its considered dead at that point. That was a good call by the officials.

Only thing I disagree with is the clock on the spike. In no other situation have I seen them give so much time to spike. I’ve never seen anyone get up there with 3 seconds and spike it successfully

He needed 18. He got 20... 19.5 if on the wrong hip.

He doesn’t need possession. He was down. It was the right call.

The spike formation was unbelievable as was the no-fumble.

Since you are so good at pointing out how the calls were correct, where is you analysis of the frickin complete pass and fumble by aTm in the first OT that should have ended the frickin game! Funny how you "forgot" to include this frickup!

Jesus. Does it offend so much to learn that you may bee incorrect in your assessment? By the way, the no fumble call was likely correct. It's close, but it appears that he did not maintain possession of the ball through the second step.

If the ball hits the ground with one second, then the ref blows the whistle, then the clock operator stops the clock, no way there's any time left.

Right, which is just an absurd rule IMO.
