I really wasn't that impressed with him, especially in that loss yesterday. I truly believe he is overrated.

Is he? What has he done at a power five conference? Was he or Sumlin better at UH?

I was more concerned with his habit of kissing players.

Does that make me bad?

You mean the one where the coaches put us in position to win. Y 3 touchdowns but the players fumbled it away?

What reason exactly do some of you idiots think Herman was being hired? His qb, who started out as a wr, threw for nearly 500 yards and 4 td's. That's why he was perfect for LSU. His defense giving up all those points is irrelevant to his potential as coach of LSU.

Maybe. There were string of succesful Boise State coaches who bombed at bigger schools. Brian Kelly was a wunderkind but then not so much. Rich Rod? Same shite.
Muschamp? Bomb. Sumlin was Herman 5 years ago. Now? Pure crap!
Herman certainly has easier path playing in a mediocre conference.

The Florida loss bothered me too, however, I realize that have not had a chance to totally revamp the offense since midseason.

excuses. The team was flat as frick for a game that could have put us in the sugar bowl.

Better play calling at the goal line would have made us forget about those fumbles.

I agree with you. And there's not enough data/experience to confirm that bad impression, or prove it wrong.

I think he has a ton more upside than CEO, but much more risk. This program doesn't have to go far to return to elite because of the recruiting and talent (and current assistants for the most part). It also is closer to becomeing a has-been (might be now) and staying there for a long time. A Herman stands a higher chance of tipping it downwards.

With his lack of experience the only thing that would have convinced a potential employer (LSU) to disregard that would have been attitude and his overall strategy. I get the feeling he failed on the attitude part. Don't forget, one of the requirements set forth by Alleva over a month ago was for a long-term coach. If Herman failed on both the attitude part (trying to pit LSU vs UT) and did not give Alleva the sense of buy-in and longevity, then he did not meet the qualifications. For all we know they've basically figured out he wants to coach the Cowboys.

Wasn't sold on Herman either. But hiring 0 is an epic letdown. Can't believe we couldn't find more than 2 coaches for the job.
