What happened to Jordan Jefferson over the course of his career

I was watching LSU-Moo ST highlights from 09 and I thought of this, it is really hard it not to scratch your head and wonder what happened. He started off so well early in his career, showed he had talent and could play. But the 2010 season was one of the worst ever. In 2011 he had some bright moments but then the wheels fell off on 1/9/12.
Freshman year-2008
36-73 419 yards 4 TDs 1 INT
49 rushes 134 yards 1 TD
Started last two games of the season
Sophomore year-2009
182-296 2166 yards 17 TDs 7 INT
112 rushes 171 yards 1 TD
Started 12 games lead LSU to a 8-4 record
Junior year-2010
119-209 1411 yards 7 TDs 10 INT
123 rushes 450 yards 7 TDs
Started all 13 games and lead LSU to a 11-2 record
Senior year-2011
61-100 737 yards 6 TDs 2 INT
75 rushes 263 yards 3 TDs
Played in 10 games, started 5, and lead LSU to a 4-1 record
Career
398-678 4733 yards 34 TDs and 20 INTs
359 rushes 1018 yards 12 TDs
32 starts went 24-8
He had a good sophomore season and then went to shite in 2010, and played ok in 2011. Did teams just figure him out or was he never able to take the next step?

He would probably tell you he played great his entire career if you asked hi.

He had the arm talent imo. I went back and watched the bama game from 2011 and I think if Jarrett Lee plays that whole game we lose by a lot. He definitely fell apart later, but when you look at the big picture he's not the worst Qb we've had at LSU. Anthony Jennings is.

Lost confidence after getting booed and bashed by his own fans.

He played in a jacked up scheme with poor coaching

JJ had a lousy Oline coach running the offense much of that time.

Let's recall that he lasted 20 minutes in his pro tryout with Tampa Bay.
That is the icing on his cake.

I remembered watching JJ in the 2008 season bowl game thinking "man, I think we got the next mike Vick" , then I went to Seattle in 2009, and the opening game was Ho-hum

Jefferson just didn't take that next step in his development. He was an average QB here, but had the tools to be a good one.

No he didn't.

Wasn't he graded lower than the punters in the NFL combine?

In what reality is
61 completion%
3/1 tds ints ratio
7.7 yards per attempt
138.7
Not playing well?

When you go 5 for 13 for 30 yds... Just no.

the game he threw 3 TD's in? he was pretty awesome in that game and I thought LSU had a solid sophomore QB.
