Defensive talent is the biggest issue

Across the whole defense (especially the secondary) there is a massive downgrade from LSU teams of the past. House may need to be replaced, but any good DC would struggle with this bunch.

As much as others are in denial and living off the ghost of LSU defenses of old, you are spot on.
Never been a negatiger or will be, just a realist. The talent level is not up to LSU standards nor is the defensive coaching!

He needs to go, but everyone is ignoring the personnel decisions every week. Not putting Weeks in to spy Milroe in the 2nd half is baffling.

Incorrect, Ole Miss has a bad defense. Max Johnson put up 35. They are out scoring teams. If Hilton makes that catch we score in the fifties and beat them.

You don't have the horses to be a top 25 defense. You certainly aren't so devoid of talent that you're a 100 or worse defense though.

Not True.
This weekend we used a bunch of freshman to shut down Bama's receivers, and it worked.
The issue was scheme. We spied Milroe a grand total of 1 time. On the first drive and then it never happened again.
We treated Milroe as if he was Tom Brady.
Our LBs were 12 yards deep in zone every 3rd down.
That's not a talent issue, its a scheme issue and Matt House is the problem

The fact is, we dont even need a top 25 defense. we need a top 50. Think of how many teams there are in the NCAA. There is no reason that we should be in the 100s.
With a top 50 defense we are undefeated right now

Some of you will argue a narrative to avoid the real issue, coaching. This will continue to be an issue until BK gets his head out of his arse and Woodward forces a defensive coaching change.
This defense should have improved from the very least within its fundamentals. It’s glaring.

These are 4 star recruits that come to LSU to play defense. No way it's a talent issue. Kelly thought he could get away with no DL coach and now they are paying for it.

Yep. Just think about how damn good your offense is that your defense allowed Alabama to convert on 80% of their third downs, meaning they extended drives and were able to chew massive amounts of clock, and you still rolled up almost 500 yards and 28 pts. And you only had your starter for 3 quarters.

Defensive talent doesn’t impact defended dropping into a 20 yard deep coverage on 3rd and 10

I don't think that's a fair assessment. I'm sure BK knows the d line is behind the 8 ball but it was just a massively unfortunate circumstance that happened to manifest at a terrible time on the calendar.

I don't think Woodward or Kelly have their head in the sand and I fully expect defensive changes to come in a few weeks. Hell, when the beat writers for ON3 and 24/7 are all outright saying there will be changes at the end of the year, you know they're coming.
