Not to sound totally cliche/dorky, but his closing speed kinda reminds me of those nat geo videos of an actual Tiger (or any predator) closing in on their prey.

If you're in range, you're just not getting away. I can't remember any pass rusher (ever) in P&G with that kind of closing speed.

Just so fast. Really want to see him put on another 20 pounds in the off-season so he can become an every down edge player.

I was about to post the same. Especially when he was chasing Dart.

His ability to miss on initial rush when Rogers steps up and have the athleticism to do a complete 90-degree turn and not lose a step and chase him down is amazing.

I just don’t think he’s tall enough to ever be an every down edge player. Certainly not on the next level. Not a whole lot of 6’0” 240 edge guys in the NFL taking on 6’6” 320 pound tackles.

And I think 20 extra pounds on his frame would slow him down a bit and take away from what actually makes him special. He’s best used like he was Saturday, just moving around all over the field, never letting the QB know what he’s gonna do. House was creative with that against MSU, but their offense sucked and weren’t a real threat. I bet he’ll dial up some delayed blitzes up the A gap and other exotics when we play some better offenses. No reason to put those on film against State.

Good analogy. I hope fans appreciate how unusual it is for a defender to miss the QB on the initial attempt, redirect his energy, close on, and still tackle a QB/RB trying to run away from him. Perkins makes it look easy. But that's elite talent for an NFL defender and extremely rare for a college sophomore.

He’s a nickel/Sam here now and probably will be in a similar role at the next level. I don’t think he has the coverage skills to be a true NFL safety, but you’re right, that is his body type.

But the way defenses have to play against today’s offenses, I’m not sure traditional positions are what they used to be. Guys are more than just the 2-3 letters to the right of their names in the programs. Teams will fall in love with him and the one that drafts him will figure out a way to best use him.

Some new wrinkles in the scheme, House sent Burns a few times on a safety blitz.
