Was watching Miami - Bethune Cookman yesterday and they showed their "Scholar Athletes" and it was someone with a 3.1 in mass communications and and the other guy with a 3.3 in art history.
Not bad GPAs per se but it's kinda like damn that's the best you can do.
Anyway, was just wondering if you could think of any ex players that were smart in the classroom and not just good on the football field or basketball court.
I remember Rudy Niswanger having a 3.9 in Pre Med. Something like that.

i’ll never forget Tyler Wilson being Arkansas’s student athlete of the game with like a 2.7 in General Studies.

Plenty of doctors, engineers, lawyers etc. Too many to name
I did have a teammate that graduated 4.0 in Biology who got into every med school imaginable but that was too boring so he is a legit research scientist for a company in Sweden now.
Funny little reindeer that guy is

How about that seventh year senior at Grambling.

several have gone on to become doctors:
Nacho Albergamo
Chad Loup
Eddie Furniss
Last I checked you had to be pretty smart to get into med school
The time sports takes away from academics makes it very hard to be the model student
I'm sure some athletes would do much better without the demands of practice and participation

Athletes that were engineering majors were by far the most impressive. Those schedules were damn near impossible to create and manage

Always been impressed with former LB Theo Williams. Contributed 3 years for LSU.
Then went United States Air Force, Airborne School, NASA's aerospace program and now works for the FBI as a special agent fighting against child sex trafficking. Pretty damn cool

Business wise? Shaq and it’s not even close.

Peter Dyakowski was named Canada’s “Smartest Person”.

Shaq used his platform wisely, but he had a platform most never dream of in order to put himself in his position
I’d put the lsu athletes that weren’t big name pros or pros at all that created million dollar companies themselves as ahead of Shaq personally

Didn’t Matt Mauck go to dentistry school?
ETA: He’s a DDS out in Aurora, CO, so he must have had his head on his shoulders. He was on the SEC honor roll.
