Skenes, Coleman and Hurd

Is it possible that those three could be our weekend starters soon? Or in post season? Coleman and Hurd are getting better and getting confident. Could be the difference between going all the way or not.

I don’t see Floyd coming out of the weekend rotation. He struggled on Saturday but he was solid the previous two weekends. You just have to live with 2 homeruns a game. You just hope they’re solo.

Dont think they want to push him that far this soon.
Also.. Jay likes to bring one of his best out of the pen. JC is shaping up to be just that imo

Don't think it is a good idea for Coleman. He is already recovering from TJ very quickly and I think it is asking for a lot for him to be able to extend outings and pitch counts this late in the season. I think he threw 40 or so this past weekend, which was the most so far.

This line-up is good enough to cover the few pot holes that Floyd seems to hit and if he settles in he can go for a while. Coleman probably wont his ceiling for pitches in an appearance until later this year and he may be better as a high leverage guy.
Pitching outside of Friday will continue to be inconsistent until its not. All of the guys in the pen have talent and they don't seem to be far away. A little consistency from a few guys would be magnified X10 with LSU's lineup.

Id rather see herring mix in there over coleman

I think it's possible for sure. I tend to just trust the coaching staff on that one. We have the best pitching coach in the country. He sees them day in and day out. To my eyes, I'd love to see Coleman in the rotation IF he can get stretched out enough to do it. Having thrown 40 pitches this weekend in an outing, seems reasonable to up that 10 pitches per week out through the post-season. Also, if Hurd continues his progression, he's got the stuff to be great on Sunday or out of the pen. His stuff plays up as a RP and we could certainly use a "stopper".
Skenes - Floyd - Coleman looks GREAT to me.. with Little as long-relief option and Hurd as the eventual fireman/closer.

There is value in continuing to stretch out Coleman. I think he's a once a weekend guy anyway so if you can get 3 (or more if needed) innings out of him in one appearance that can help.
Same thing with Herring.
Probably the same with Hurd eventually. Ack seems better in one longer appearance than a couple shorter ones.
We don't have a ton of guys you could comfortably double dip on, so keeping guys stretched out would be optimal.

Way too many walks from Floyd and Little. I think that’s gonna bite us in the arse in postseason. I hope they can start finding the strike zone consistently. If not, changes may need to be made. Unless they are the best we have when postseason starts

They seem to be ramping him up pretty quickly
16 pitches
29 pitches
41 pitches
something has to give though. They have to find a serviceable SP2. Coleman, Herring, or Hurd

Floyd isnt coming out of the rotation this late.
And I dont think they want to push Coleman too soon. I like Coleman coming in to relieve Floyd for an inning or 2 and depending on how he is doing and feeling, maybe stretch him a little further.

Wouldn’t shock me if by Supers Coleman gets the nod to start Game 2. Especially if it’s win or go home.
By then, barring injury, he’ll be stretched out to 90+ pitches

I think Coleman could get the Saturday start and Floyd moved to Sunday or vice versa. Hurd looks like a closer.

Floyd isn’t getting fired

My opinion would be having Herring ramp up to take some starts and Coleman being more of a backend guy to close out a game getting 6-9 outs once a week.
However, it seems like Jay likes to go to Herring right after Skenes on Friday's. So he might just ride with Skenes, FLoyd, Little for another week or 2 before making any changes.

Don't look now, but Blake Money is on an upward trend.
His last 4 appearances (Kentucky, ULL, Bama, Bama):
8 IP
3 ER
6 K
2 BB
1 HR
Another trend is his 1 inning appearances this season:
5 appearances, 5 IP
1 run allowed (against A&M)
6 K
He's quietly carving out a new role for himself and I think will continue to make a valuable contribution. Especially as we get to the point of simply "counting outs" each weekend.

The good thing with this lineup is that we don’t have to have 3 Paul Skenes. We need Skenes to be himself and then the other 2 to just give us 5 innings of 3 run ball. If they’re consistent with that, their ERA won’t be great but this offense will win a lot of games if they just get outings like that

Glad you posted that. Money deserves credit and he’ll be useful down the stretch.

I think they are ramping up Herring, but guy hit a wall later in his appearance this past weekend. Was somewhat of a letdown because he looked good otherwise
