What are your predictions of playing time for Laterrance Welch?

Obviously before Toviano, Stamps, Hughes, etc. from high school and before Chestnut, Harris, JK, etc. from the portal, figured Welch would get a lot of playing time, but with all these guys coming in, now I'm not too sure. You think he'll get a lot of playing time in 2023, or will the other CBs get him less? Just curious.

Think Welch is the determining factor and not the new guys in determining his PT. If he works hard enough and shows the coaches he is reliable, I think he’ll get significant PT bc he has all the physical intangibles.

Considering he hardly played in 2022 without those guys you mentioned here, not much.

I think we will get a good idea on him after spring. I was expecting him to probably play a major role in 2023. After we signed all these good portal CB I'm not sure. I hope he balls out during spring game.

Last I read, he was a ways off from contributing.

I think he is on the outside looking in for the 2023 season but I think he will be a solid starter at some point in his career if he stays at LSU.
Hope he proves me wrong but Denver Harris and Duce Chestnut both seem to be proven commodities at this point. Plus you have the big kid from Southeastern, JK Johnson and Sevyn Banks that fit into the mix.

I think he transfers if he doesn't get significant PT this year. Unfortunately. Arkansas was pushing for him hard during recruiting.

He's fully healthy now and I'd expect him to be CB2. He's got all the physical tools to be great and I think he will be.

He’s a competitor ! He needs to work hard and prove himself in the Spring. A lot of heart and should be healthy from old injuries . A lot of competition for CB now.

Seems like a potential transfer portal casualty unless he can move up the depth chart to be starter by next year.
Getting younger guys like JK Johnson seems to suggest they're not as confident in Welch as we were with him coming out. The fact he almost didn't contribute anything freshman year says a lot. We'll get a good idea after spring I think.

I like the way that sounds.... I personally will always pull the hardest for the guys Like Welch that commit to being a Tiger on day one and show up to be one. Nothing against the newcomers.. it is what it is... but he's never been anything but a Tiger.

He's still got to make it happen though, and the competition is stiff.
Biggest thing to remember is his contributions this season were limited due to his knee. Tore the ACL in high school and while he was ready to play 9 months later, everyone knows you're not back to 100% until at least a year.

He only played special teams during the season and played minimal CB snaps late in the Citrus Bowl. Surpringly think the coaches don’t think he is ready for the next step with all the portal signees. I look for him to hit the portal himself after spring ball. And I’m very disappointed

What instrument does he play?

Could be in portal after spring

House's back end coverages can be very complicated with the way he uses LBs to both decoy and blitzs (those DBs/Ss have to rotate/reposition correctly or will be easy reads for QB) and I'm guessing, actually assuming, that is the issue and not a talent thing.
There's a reason the experienced transfer DBs went straight to the field.

Was pumped about him signing, if I had to put money down, I would say he transfers out

This is the biggest negative of the portal imo. If you always bring in portal guys that are older, young guys like Welch will feel like they weren’t given a fair chance and leave.

If they are good enough, they will play. I hope he finds a spot this spring but if not, that's just how it goes at big time schools like LSU. Only the best players in the country can play here when things are ran right.
