Transfer Portal Windows to enter...

My understanding...
Portal opens Dec. 5, the day after Championship teams announced, and closes 45 days later on Jan. 18, 2023. There is also a 15-day spring period from May 1-15.
Exceptions..
Graduate Transfers have no timetable
Head coach fired triggers a 30 day window.
Notable timing issues
Early signing is December 21st. Portal transfers may impact a HS players decision to sign with a school
Schools are limited to 85 scholarships. Thay can sign as many as needed to get to the 85. LSU is in the 70's right now and with seniors and our own attrition, we should be able to take quite a few recruits and transfers.
Not and expert on this so please correct any inaccuracies above.

We need more DB’s, LB’s, and an OG. I honestly think we are thinner at positions than what we think.
Really worried that our WR room is happy hunting because we don’t utilize them as much as we should.

I don’t think we see many transfers out this year. I think we sign a good class of about 28 and take 5 transfers. That should get our numbers close to the 85.

I think DE is a spot LSU will look at in the portal. Ojulari and Gaye are gone. Jones is the only other guy who has made an impact there. A lot of the "edge" rush has come from Perkins. Maybe Wiggins becomes the next in line. But given the fact LSU seems to have had the resources to be deep along the DL and hasn't really played a ton of guys is somewhat cause for concern. I suspect Roy probably leaves too.

The portal "window" is a stupid concept.
Players can leave the team anytime they want and announce they are entering the portal anytime they want. They just can't "officially" enter the portal, which is virtually meaningless.
The portal will still revolve around the semester breaks.

Kind of sucks for playoff teams trying to set their rosters while also trying to finish the season the right way

The way I understand it, this really has more to do with when a new team can have official contact with a transfer player.
There have been accusations surrounding players who signed with a new team within a day or so of officially entering the portal. Some coaches have made remarks that the players were already being courted.
Not only could this be unfair for the original team, but also for other teams that don't get a shot at making an offer.

Yea, OK. You keep believing that. They are in contact with the player and/or his representatives year-round just in case.

I'm so confused on what is going on with this guy.
He has already played in 4 games and burned his redshirt just playing a couple plays here and there on ST. And hasn't played in the last 3 or 4. And he has made zero impact on the field. I find it VERY strange that such a highly rated recruit is not even sniffing the field at DL when we are so thin there.
At the very least I would expect him to be getting more PT as the season goes on but he is getting less. And again, redshirt is already gone.
It's just not adding up. Either he's injured and I missed the memo, or he's nowhere as talented as was expected.
