Why are people worried about the ranking

1. As a fan of the Brian Kelly hire even originally, this is better than I thought the first year would go.
More importantly 2.) the playoff committee WILL NEVER keep the SEC Champion out of the playoff. Just won’t happen.
LSU controls their own destiny, if they win out - they’re in. Simple.
Didn’t even check the rankings when they came out, they don’t matter.

I am excited how quickly this LSU football program went from 39 scholarships in January to beating two top 10 teams during a consensus rebuilding effort.
I just don’t see LSU winning four straight games to get into the CFP. I do like what this program is becoming though for the next several years .

I agree. I just want LSU to beat Arkansas. Seriously, just beat Arkansas and enjoy the weekend. Enjoy being better than anybody could have projected. Enjoy watching Ole Miss play Alabama for second place.

So if Bama beats Ole Miss, LSU goes 2-1 in the last 3, dropping the A&M game, and then upsets UGA, LSU gets in at 9-3? Or did you get carried away with absolutes?

In this scenario they are on the outside looking in. Tennessee would join the discussion.
If they win out though, they're in.
Go UCLA, and Baylor, and Syracuse, and whoever else has no chance to get in cfb playoffs.

The reason why I thought the first year will go better is because I thought they would be more balanced in their play calling. Yes, it was back and forth, but in the end I thought the rushing play calling against Auburn was really really really really really really really really really really stupid. I thought this will hurt us in the long run and we will be one and done in the playoffs. Right now, I don't care about rankings. All I want is to win the SEC Championship. If we get in, we get in. If not, oh well. We just have to win out. I don't think we are in a position where we can be picky about our opponents. I am really really really really really really really really really really really excited about this game. I like the way we played against Auburn and I think we are ready. I just hope we don't play stupidly.

Why do fans do fan things?
People are different. Some are worried about everything, Some are simply curious and rankings are a measuring stick.
The fact that we may have exceeded expectations is good, the measuring stick of rankings helps us quantify just how much. Making the CFP would be beyond any rational expectation. Where we are positioned pre-SECCG will directly impact what winning that (however unlikely that may seem) will mean for us in the CFP.

My expectations for the season have already been exceeded. I'm not sure what will happen but if LSU wins out it will create chaos!!! Just being in the discussion at present is giving LSU tons of publicity especially after beating Alabama the way that we did. Go Tigers!!!

Exactly. It is just nice to be able to see this kind of improvement from what we watched the last 2 years. Feels good to just let this season play out and appreciate it for that.

Long way to go to worry about the playoff. We are in great position and getting a lot of respect considering the Tenn game and falling out of the rankings.

In a normal year, I’d totally agree. But I think the playoff committee is gonna screw us and put a one loss team from East in over a 2 loss champ, especially if the champ got blown out at home by one of the 1-loss teams in East. I really hate it but I’m just focused on the fact we’re actually talking about this crap in BK first year after having 39 scholly players and a WR for QB in our bowl game less than 12 months ago. Just enjoy dammit!!
