Kelly “more tiered reps next week”

Next week is when the battle at QB and at tackle really starts, when reps are more tiered. Kelly wanted everyone involved in practice early on, now those competing for a starting position will be the focus of practices, key position battles start next week.
Also Kelly implied that he was pleasantly surprised with the talent of his safeties and he likes his middle linebacker transfer from Clemson, who will be the quarterback of LSU’s defense. Kelly is not one to exaggerate like our previous two coaches often did, so this is huge news. Next week is when the real evaluation starts at QB and Oline.

QB, OL, CB those are the three that interest me the most. Especially OL.

Someone leaked that Jenkins was embarrassing one of our DB’s, so I would have to agree with you on those three positions being of most interest.

He had more emphasis on versatility.
Matt House basically open up his Christmas presents early.

I’m curious why Baskerville won’t be the QB of the defense. He was coming into his own at the end of last year.

Kelly indicated his middle linebacker has to communicate well, LSU’s defense seemed confused last year.

Wait, aren't we DBU?
Ive been saying this for 5 years that Corey dropped off a lot in recruiting. We used to pull a 5* or high 4* from other states regularly...

Is Brooks from Arkansas going to vie at a CB spot or is he the nickel?

I think its actually this week. He originally said the first 2 weeks would be equal reps.

I have no real expectations for what this year will hold for LSU football, but I'm as excited as ever.

I’m 100% confident in Coach Kelly, never been more confident in an LSU men’s coaching hire than this one, by a mile!

I'm right there with you. On paper, thats our weakest link on Defense. But, lucky for us, our strength is DL. If we can continually get pressure and rush throws, we can hid that weakness a bit.

4 year rebuild. Wake up and realize this year is gonna be very hard

I never implied that my expectations are a NC this season. I'm merely expecting better than 6-6.

Would be fortunate to win 6 games with this roster. I don't see it.

If we won 6 games with an lame duck incompetent coaching staff (especially on offense and whatever O had going on with the D for 3/4ths of the season), I can see us accomplishing that with what I feel will be good coaching this year.
Also, Boutte should be back giving our QBs an elite 1st-round target to throw to, Emery will be back potentially giving us a much better RB in the backfield, and I expect Bech to be even better playing at WR more with teams having to worry about Boutte.
The D has some spots to solidy like CB, but the D-line should be deep and good and Baskerville coming back was big for the LB position (and I expect Mike Jones to take a big leap forward this year as he clearly has a lot of talent).

Agreed. I don't think it's been quite stated enough how huge picking up an All Big-12 CB from Okie State in the portal was.

fwiw Major Burns said brooks has been a dog so far in practice and has had a pic in almost every practice. This was an interview with Jordy this morning.

I'm crossing my fingers that our D-line can makeup for talent and experience deficiencies in the secondary
