Neinas said West Virginia's entrance into the Big 12 was contingent on the university being available next year.

"We needed a 10th member next season to fulfill our TV commitments," Neinas said. "There's an inventory that goes with a contract for TV, so we've got to be able to do that."

I'm guessing Mizzou is gone and they need someone to assume their conference schedule. If this drags out much longer Mizzou will have to wait for 2013, imo.

WVU and the Big East will settle out of court and we will be playing in the Big 12 next year. Mark it down.

This is kind of like arriving at a great party just after most of the cool kids have left and the crowd is thinning out. All you're left with is two drunken douchebags trying to impress those who have no place else to go with stupid antics and over inflated egos.

Congrats!

what's keeping Mizzou in the Big XII? they supposedly haven't signed anything that they're staying so there's no contractual obligation to make them stay an extra year.

Also the SEC is kind of screwed schedule wise if they stay at 13.

Same thing that kept A&M in for a bit, threat of legal action. If WVU can't come next year, Mizzou leaving puts the Big 12's TV contracts in serious jeopardy. They need a suitable replacement to make the TV people happy. (Although I don't see how WVU is a suitable replacement, but that's just me.)

Maybe Neinas could talk TWU into adding football for 2012? That would keep everyone's travel expenses down.

Exactly. Plus the Big 12 is asking close to a $30 million dollar exit fee. The Big 12 was supposed to start working with MU on an exit arrangement with MU last Friday when they announced WVU to the Big 12 in 2012. I'm guessing that was put on hold due to not knowing for sure if WVU can get there next year.

One of the first threats made to MU was that may be sued by all the schools who have to replace them on their schedule.

in regards to TV markets yes, but as strength of football and basketball programs we are an upgrade for the B12

Let's just call it an even trade.

But as far as basketball, yea it is an upgrade.

Even if they are a basketball upgrade, would they be enough to stop KU from winning the conference every year? They've won it something like nine of the last ten years. The Big 12 is a good basketball conference, and losing NU and CU didn't hurt at all, but it's still KU and then everyone else.
