Other than their location, which isnt that bad, they seem to fit right in with the sec. Anyone hating on this was not at the wva game at tiger stadium. They are a knowledgable fan base who are fun and travel well.

It's West Virginia. And it's 5.5 hours from the closest SEC school (UK).

Personally I think WVU belongs in the ACC...I dont think they have the talent level to compete day in an day out in the SEC. Our game was close because we had ZERO offense and yes it is too far away as well.

WVU would be no better than UK in the SEC.

We do have WVU to thank for our 2007 Nat. Championship. They were ranked number 2 and lost to a 4-6 Pitt team at home.....at night....lol

I imagine A&M, Ark and UF are similar in distance.

because I saw the movie Wrong Turn?

joking...sort of. I don't hate WV. They would fit in fine in the SEC. They have a great fan base that definitely fits in better with the SEC than the ACC.

Do you really not see the difference there. The CLOSEST school to WV is 5 1/2 hours away, then you went and compared it to the distance between a two teams in the west and one in the east.

I lived in WV and WVU has no business in the SEC. They have a different culture (more midwestern/midatlantic/appalachia) and most of their students are coming from PA, Maryland and Jersey.

And they SUCK at baseball. They don't even take it seriously. They should go to the ACC and play basketball (which they love) in the basketball conference.

so does Tennessee and other sec schools (sucking at baseball). big deal. WV basketball would compete right away, too.

if WV is offered, they will jump on it. it's too much money that is at stake. there is no way they turn the sec down. it would help their recruiting, as well b/c now they can recruit kids that will get to play games in the south for the superior conference.

Def don't want WVU... they invade the SC coast each year for their family vacations, and that is enough for me. Weird group of people, and the ones we talked to this summer talked like they were the best football team and the best fanbase in America.

Yeah, the couch-burning is part of it, although Ohio State fans are in the same category in that regard.

The other part of it is distance-related.

When WVU came to Baton Rouge for last year's game, they had almost no fans traveling. It was almost like a rent-a-win in that regard IMHO.

I'm not sure it will get much better if they are in the SEC East and are playing games against Georgia (570 miles), Florida (800 miles), Vandy (550 miles), etc., without even getting into their eventual SEC West road games against LSU (1100 miles), A&M (1400 miles), or Arky (983 miles).

Would much rather have Virginia Tech...they are about 250 road miles from Knoxville and less than 500 from Tuscaloosa, Athens and Nashville...besides VT would open up the DC market to the SEC....

WV brings nothing to the table.....
