Which has the better football program: A&M or Mizzou?

Maybe folks who have followed the Big XII can help with this question; I haven't followed either program in years and really don't know which one serves up better competition.

Would it be an even swap to put A&M in the West and Mizzou (if they come in) in the East?

Historically, A&M. Last decade, Mizzou.

I think that's difficult to really decide. Mizzou has had the good fortune of playing in a weak Big 12 north, while A&M has played in a tough Big 12 south. The competition disparity is too great to make an accurate judgement, imo. But I really don't see Mizzou leaving the Big 12.

I agree with this. A&M hasn't won a bowl game in 10 years.

Yikes! Why are they coming to the SEC?

The one that's in the SEC and its them by a mile. Mizzou has done come good things lately, but A&M is far and away the better program. They replaced RC Slocumb and have not yet recovered from it until now. Mike Sherman is getting things put back together and they will be a quality opponent.

I'm not 100% sure that's true. The Big XII is like a bad marriage; you can get counseling and things may appear on track for a short period but the underlying problem/s will always surface again. Eventually, a divorce attorney becomes your new best friend.

Texas will always be Texas...enough said.

meh. Mizzou seems to like having regional rivalries like KU and KSU, I don't blame them. For all the talk about the big bad evil Texas, A&M left the BIG 12 because they thought they could make more money in the SEC while being equally irrelevant.

So, one of the richest universities in the country left the Big XII and 100 years of history to make a few more bucks...OK.

Well, that and spite with a small addition of jealousy is why they left the Big 12. No other reason makes any sense.

I'd say A&M has the better potential right now but recently it's been Mizzou. Once OU goes into a bad stretch look for A&M to get much better.

Before Gary Pinkel got to Missouri in 2001 they were dismal. He has done one hell of a job there. The site michigan-football.com has a history for every program going back to 1945. Copy and paste didn't work, so I had to do a screen capture. There was only room to go back to 1985. Mizzou is on the left and A&M on the right. The rightmost colums is points for and against.

Stupidity at it's best. A&M left the Big XII because it's completely instable. They left a conference who is now looking to tie it's teams into the conference by requiring them to give away 6 years of television rights for a conference that has no exit fee because teams don't leave the SEC. The Big XII is also looking at adding teams from three different time zones and Texas' LHN will inevitably continue to create tension amongst the members with any power in the conference. Sure, the SEC makes more money and plays a better brand of football.. this is just icing on the cake. A&M made a rational decision that they didn't want to be reactionary should other teams decide to leave what is clearly a ticking time bomb. Instead, they were proactive and left to go to a better conference and will be the only team in that conference from the state of Texas... If you think no other reasons make any sense than you clearly haven't been thinking very hard.

That says the last 5 years goes to A&M, previous to MO in a landslide.

Other way around. Left is Missouri, right is A&M.

The Texas legislature started the biennial session in January which was over in June. It will not reconvene until January 2013.

The Longhorn Network having the ability to pick which "tier 3" game(s) to broadcast before the season starts. This season Tech, Baylor, OSU, K State and Missouri were approached before Kansas accepted.

When TCU was invited the Austin Statesman mentioned that 2 to 3 conference games would be on the Longhorn Network next season.

Good luck with competitive interest in the Tier 1 rights in a couple of years when a third of the Longhorn games will be called Tier 3.

Which was in progress the prior year. Stop with the lies and excuses. A&M was looking out for number 1 and wanted some more money. End of story.
