so you use 2009 UConn to say WV was horrible in 2007, but what the Big East did in 2007 now only matters for what each team did in 2007?

did you watch LSU in 2007? are you going to tell me LSU did well against spread looks, option looks, or mobile QBs? are you going to tell me LSU handled defenses that pressured from different angles well?
I'm telling you they beat a shitload more talented teams than WVU did. And they sure as hell didn't lose to a Pitt shittyass Pitt team.

The Big East has 1 title in the BCS era... again, as many championship game wins as the Big 10, ACC, and Pac 10
Boom. Suck it Trebek!
Edit: Technically, 1 more than the PAC10

Here is the 2007 WVU schedule.
4.1 Western Michigan
4.2 Marshall
4.3 Maryland
4.4 East Carolina
4.5 South Florida
4.6 Syracuse
4.7 Mississippi State
4.8 Rutgers
4.9 Louisville
4.10 Cincinnati
4.11 Connecticut
4.12 Pittsburgh
4.13 Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma
Really impressive there. Now I know how you could tell they were legit.

when you have a man in motion and you fake hand it off to him, then keep it, that is, by definition, the option
if you're in option and you choose to hand it off to the first "option," then it's still an option play
quote:
A true option look there would have had the TE downblock on the DT,
in a traditional set perhaps. the option is being reinvented in college football and the rules of the 60s t-bone flex don't always apply
Actually, no. You're redefining any play that uses a fake or misdirection as an option with that kind of very loose, very imprecise, and highly inaccurate terminology; play design matters, and blocking is what determines what is and what is not option offense, *before* the question of who can or cannot be given the ball in any given play comes into play. If either element is not present, it is not option.
The option isn't being 'redefined'; it is being used in different ways, but the option itself is the same. There is nothing new under the sun.

You can debate this all you want, but it's an argument you will never win, because WVU lost to a sucky Pitt team. LSU was a much more deserving team than WVU. The selection committee doesn't make their decisions based on who would match up best with who. This all goes back to my original point that a playoff system would be better. We wouldn't be having these debates, because it would finally get settled on the field.

because any system that keeps 2006 LSU out in order to let 2006 OU in, works!

Was that the year that Vince Young beat USC in the title game?

no. that was a year when the BCS worked perfectly in putting the 2 best teams in the title game
2006 was the year LSU got fricked at AU and lost to #1 UF @ UF
2006 was the year mccoy got hurt, UT slid at the end, and OU backed into the Big12 title with a WR playing QB...who then lost to Boise STate

It's the same option, no matter where you line up or what motion you choose to use. Those plays were not option football. They were power football out of the T.
If you want to see the option-- the exact same option principles as used for decades-- being used in different ways, watch MSU. That's not redefining the option. The option remains unchanged.

Okay. I guess 2005 was the Vince Young game. We wouldn't have to hear about Boise if Choklahoma had done their part. Anyway, I have to go. I'll be back on here later if you feel like dueling again.

Arkansas Chancellor Dave Gearhart was at the meeting and said A&M was among a number of topics discussed. "It was really an open discussion, not just about A&M but about the future of the conference and the future of other conferences," Gearhart said. "We did talk about Texas A&M. It's a great university, a great place. But I think the decision was to make no decision at this particular time." Gearhart said the SEC presidents and chancellors are "very comfortable" with the 12-team alignment, financially and competitively. But he, too, said they wouldn't rule out expansion. "If some other conference is going to make changes, it behooves us to take a look at that," said Gearhart. He added: "I think everybody will sort of be watching what happens in Texas and what they do."
