edited out my first part of this post as it's already been said on this thread.

quote:

Hunnicutt wrote "Texas Fight" in response to the song used by their longtime rivals, Texas A&M University. One of the Aggie songs then was Farmers Fight, which consisted of the words "Farmers Fight" sung to Taps, a song played at many military funerals. Impressed by the song, Hunnicutt figured he would write "Texas Fight" also sung to Taps, but making the song more march-like and having "Texas" throughout instead of "Farmers."[1] In a letter written in 1952 by Colonel Hunnicutt, he says "I wrote 'Texas Fight'... in an attempt to counteract the songs and yells of the Texas Aggies, which were not too complimentary to our Student Body and some of which tended to ridicule 'The Eyes of Texas'."[4]

I guarantee you A&M will have a harder time in the SEC for baseball than in the BigXII.

No argument there (even if SC did need a miracle comeback to win ). (Seriously, nobody was going to beat SC this year unless it was a fellow SEC school, and knocking Texas out of the record books is a plus.)

But A&M is taking that Blue Bell $$$ and redoing their baseball facilities, so I know it will be competitive with most of the SEC (SC may be hard to catch).

A&M's cheers (the milk men male cheerleaders) doing the sawing of the horns with their arms is about Texas

WTF are you talking about?

quote:

Can you imagine though? A school that never plays Texas all season, singing the following words after a touchdown in Bryant Denny?

"Good bye to Texas University!" "Saw Varsity's horns off!" "Short Ay!" "THe eyes of Texas are upon you, that is the song they sing so well. Sounds like hell!"

We don't sing the fight song after touchdowns. We kiss our girlfriends

You're right. As your quote implies, Ags only kiss their gf's after TD's of a football game. In the RC Slocum era Aggies were almost bred out by lack of offensive production

At least make sense with your smack, brah

No, it's because it fricks up and changes the best conference.

What will frick up the SEC more is if the Pac 12 and B1G expand and grow more revenue while the SEC stands pat.

Its kind of funny listening to some of you, who were probably to young to remember the last time the SEC expanded (and its especially funny to hear this from Arkansas fans) and people moaned and cried about fricking up the best conference, 8 conference games was too many, we'll be killing ourselves etc, etc.

Before the 91 expansion, the SEC had one elite program, Bama, and a bunch of good ones. Since then, 4 programs plus Bama have won national titles and become at various times, consitent top 5 teams. 9 of the 12 teams have been to the SEC CG. Now the 2nd tier programs are becoming more competitve, paying top dollar for coaches, upgrading their programs. All that has happened because the SEC upgraded its brand and revenue shot through the roof.

There is a disproportinate amount of talent in the South, so the SEC will always be very good in FB. but if you think the B1G and Pac 12 can't close the gap, as they greatly increase revenues, you are fools. I don't know if the 16 team mega conference will work, but if its coming, it would be better to be out in front, expanding the SEC reach to states like Texas or Virgina or Missouri than to to back and or add ACC teams from states already in the SEC.
