Texas drove everyone away, now begging for ACC acceptance

quote:

There, hat in hand, is Texas. The big and bold Longhorns—the strongest brand in college football today—are scouring for crumbs with the ACC.

It’s just so undeniably fitting, is it not?

They started this mess last year, you know. Got together with ESPN and the combination of two mammoth egos could only mean one thing: a gigantic mess.

quote:

Now throw We’re Texas And You’re Not into that mix. Watch Texas make millions upon millions with its Longhorn Network, and eventually suck the very life out of the league.

For those who believe that Texas, Virginia Tech, Miami and Florida State could eventually develop into an SEC-type foursome, we give you this: Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Nebraska were there before you.

Now one team is playing in the Big Ten, one is headed for the SEC, and one has its sights on the Pac-12.

And one is standing on the corner of burnt orange and karma.

Nice read.

Good for Texas, they might find a home.

HooDooWitch,

The ACC and SEC are supposedly the only two major conferences that have a Tier III media framework that could accommodate the LHN.

That Matt Hays line says it all.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving set of idiots.

it would be funny if Texas went to the ACC and Miami, BC, and Va Tech went back to the Big East and FSU joined the SEC. I can dream.

Thanks of the info, that makes a lot of scense. Now that we have that out of the way, what the hell is a tier three framework

ACC TV package is with ESPN putting them in the best position to broker acceptance of the LHN. One more time, ESPN is the puppetier in this fiasco.

I'm no expert, but Tier III rights are radio and TV broadcasts of games that aren't selected for Tier I or Tier II by networks.

Tier I = CBS SEC game of the week, ABC national telecast game, etc. The big stage games.

Tier II = ESPN, Fox Sports Net, etc. Less national exposure, more regionalized.

Tier III = every broadcast of games not picked up for Tier I or II.

There you go, worth what you paid for it

This. IMHO, UT didn't just sell its TV rights, it also sold its right to self determination.

That’s Oklahoma, ironing out the details of moving west to join the Pac-12—a move that makes absolutely no geographical sense until you take into consideration the distance it puts between the Sooners and Longhorns.

Gotta love this.
