Cash, no way the league does that. The SEC East would be too loaded in football. I think that Mizzou goes to the East in the short term.
I agree, but either this has to happen or cross division permanent games need to stop.

I don't see how these changes benefits the schools already in the SEC though. That's what disappoints me.
it would open the houston, dallas, san antonio, st louis, and kansas city markets up. all the sec schools will make more money and be on tv in those areas for recruits to watch.
local tv and newspapers will start carrying significantly more coverage of sec sports.
this is a win, a big one.

Could be a way to light a fire under Big Ten's butt to get them to invite Mizzou.
Clay Travis just tweeted that he suspects the same thing....Sorry can't link from here.

If Mizzou does get in there sure as hell better be a mascot change clause in there. If not LSU and Auburn need to take them and the SEC to court

I don't understand why Slive would be in such a hurry for the B1G to make a move on Missouri and take them off the table for the SEC. Perhaps he wants the Pac-12, ACC, and the B1G to fill all their spots leaving Notre Dame forced to join a conference and only one conference to chose from.

I go to one ****ing meeting and everything changes. Wow.
Smart move by the SEC - heavy hitter TV markets and a better than average football program. You guys will be surprised by how nice the campus is when you visit.
This is a kick in the nuts to a "patient" Big 10. If everyone goes to 16 teams, Mizzou is better than just about any other 16th option I can think of for the Big 10.

Could Mizzou leverage this into a Big 10 invite?
Posted on 9/20/11 at 1:57 pm to Chicken
So if this does turn out to be a ploy to get a bid from the big10, is there another team in mind or do we stay at 13?

I agree. Shame on those tards that somehow thought WVU was going to add any value to this conference

yea for balance purposes, you would have to put Mizz in the East. Make Mizz and Ark cross-division rivals and move USC to play TAMU every year. That way Mizz plays their border states of UK and Ark. All the other cross division rivals stay the same. Mizz doesnt care if they play TAMU that often. They didnt play that often in the Big12. The bigger question is how many conference games, 8 or 9? 9 seems like too many. 8 would mean you would only play the other six cross-division teams twice every 12 years.

Same here. Boosters get told whatever they want to hear. They are cash machines and universities will push whatever buttons are necessary to keep the cash flowing out.
Booster to UM admin: "I have spent way too much money to see UM be left behind. You guys better be working your asses off to make sure we are ok."
UM admin: "Oh yes sir. The SEC wants us really bad but they are just waiting for some paperwork to clear up. All is well."

Come on Slive. Grow some balls and just give unconditional invitations. How is Baylor and their 18 wins in 15 seasons of Big 12 football allowed to hold up conference re-alignment?
btw, you are not allowed to speak like this until you are officially in.

Well that will make another close road trip for the students. Between Mizzou and A&M, they'll have a few good games they'll be able to reasonably travel to.
I like the idea of Mizzou in the East as a permanent cross-rival for Arkansas.

Mizzou is a good add geographically. If the addition to the SEC can raise interest in Mizzou football it certainly has the potential to deliver new viewers in the STL and KC area.

KU, Rutgers (both AAU, decent TV in NYC and KC, no threat to existing football powers)
