Conference expansion is going to happen and the SEC had better cherry pick the bones of the Big XII and a couple of teams from the ACC.

I know that we are THE football conference now, but think 10 or 15 years in the future. With expansion what if we were to get stuck with a couple of teams like Louisville and Memphis? We could easily become the second or third best football conference.

Invite Mizzou, N.C. State, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech immediately.

Be proactive damnit, not reactive.

Slive knows what he's doing.. he's sent invites to several schools already, including TAMU, UT, and OU.

On another note, why the hell would he invite NC State (unless he had invited Duke and UNC first)? Seems like they're the least desirable Tobacco Road school.

i only see mizzou coming if the sec wants 16 teams and has to put another west team with A&M. I think he can take GT and Clemson whenever he wants.

Wake and Duke are less desirable than NC State, IMHO.

Wake's had a good program the last few years, but they're one of the smallest schools in the NCAA and have such a small alumni base that they couldn't sell many tickets when they went to the Orange Bowl, which was the greatest moment in the program's history.

Duke would be Vandy 2: Electric Boogaloo in football.

Piss on GT and Clemson. Neither team brings anything to the party.

you don't need to be proactive when you're the top dog.

You become the top dog by being proactive.

You won't be the top dog for long if you don't remain proactive.

I keep comparing UT going to the PAC-10 with UT going to the SEC, and quite frankly it's a no-brainer to go to the SEC. The money should be much better, the travel should be easier... and though the schedule will be a bit tougher it's not nearly enough to give up the money (not with Bama and Auburn moving to the East). If Slive can't sell that either he's an idiot, or the Texas Board of Regents is full of idiots.

UT needs to slow down and think this through. They are the belle of the ball. They can take their time and make an informed decision.

The only way we would want to invite NCSU is if we couldn't get Duke/UNC. NCSU does have an up and coming basketball program and they have some good fans, but their football leaves something to be desired.
