The idea that they carry a "huge" percentage of large media markets outside of WV is borderline delusional.

actually its not when a majority of its fans/alumni dont even live in the state any more or never spent more than their college years there. The 2 million tv sets in the state of wv is just an added bonus

adding WVU would add more TV sets than FSU

and ill tell you why:
what tv in the south does FSU bring that isnt already watching SEC football?

now ask yourself the same question about the mid/northeast and WVU

ETA: fsu clearly brings more tv sets than wvu in a vacuum, but we dont live in one of those

meh, i dont know if they are scared or just ignorant.

i mean a lot of people thought we would add FSU, aTm, UT, and OU.... literally.
like the sec was going to make the ultimate super conference and the winner would be made ruler of the universe for the year.

WVU is a great fit in the SEC. It's probably a bunch of metrosexual dumbasses who fall for stereotypes that are against it.

I'd be all for WVU to the SEC. Bring it on.

Good point. And I remember you helping me understand why West Virginia would be a good add (I thought I remembered them traveling well and you confirmed it).

ACC poaching Syracuse and Pitt hurts us a bit, since we won't be adding VT or NC State. But the Big East is clearly weak and WVU will help the SEC in the long run (at least we can get to 14 teams quickly).

Are you serious? People all over the country will watch FSU. They are considered to be an elite team nationally even if they have been down for a few years. No way that WVU adds more TV sets or more value to a conference. They aren't even in the same stratosphere in terms of viewers, recruiting, or home draw.

WVU is a nice consolation prize, but it's no Nebraska. Now if WVU had the history and record of Nebraska then I'd buy all this talk about how WVU would be such a good fit for the SEC and how it would deliver all those media markets. The truth is that it doesn't.

It does add a percentage of many markets we have none of right now. Like someone said earlier who in Florida is not watching the SEC already. Mizzou financially makes the most sense but I would not trust them not to bolt for the B1G. I would like to see someone compare alumni bases of the schools up for grabs. WVU has to have a larger alumni base than TCU.

FSU travels for shite out of the state of Florida. They are a MNC fanbase, FSU gear across the country for a year or two if they win the big one. A bad stretch like they have been on and you would wonder if anyone ever went to that school at all. Miami is the same way.
