It's happening, but you're not in the SEC yet, so STFU.
STFU Busey. We welcome him with open arms.

For those like me that are wrapped up in conference realignment and would like to see a Conference Expansion Board, you can voice your support here:

We would fricking thrash you. But yes, Kentucky does blow. Thank God they're actually good in basketball.

Same. Missouri would be like getting a brand new Hyundai.

This is exactly what I was doing as I typed that response.

Adding Mizzou would be fun. Much like adding another Ole Miss type team.

Down Trigger! LSU and Mizzou have played exactly once, in the 1978 Liberty Bowl, a 20-15 Mizzou victory.
A lot of water under the bridge since then.

Missouri and Clemson would be dead weight teams that bring nothing to the table in any sport but collect on the jackpot at the end of the season from bowl money.
Is your opinion based on money or competitiveness in athletics?
How much money do you think FSU brings? Not a lot. Mizzou actually rakes in more money than FSU.
Both averaged around 87% stadium capacity this past season. And there aren't definitive TV numbers I can find about those schools. FSU's prestige > Mizzou's prestige, but is the money they can possibly bring in enough to make up for the difference between those schools' football profits?
VT is a better option. It's a decent school academically, can bring in the MD/DC area for viewers, will open up that area for football/ basketball recruits, and makes a lot of money from their athletic department.
It would be good to add a school that can strengthen the SEC in sports other than football and baseball, but very few of those schools would be willing to move.

With two Texas teams, LSU is less isolated (#2 behind Arkansas presently).

This is a hilarious forum. Calling Busey out...Seriously, as a Kentucky fan you have no place to diss Mizzou. We'd crap on your field after properly destroying your team. A Kentucky fan dissing Mizzou...hilarious!
You'll be in for a rude awakening if you do join the SEC. Missouri would finish somewhere right around 10th every year, as it stands now. Assuming we have 14 or 16 teams, you'd finish 12th or lower.

This is a reason that Arkansas should want a westerly expansion.
Personally, the SEC has been in its current form for most of my life, and in spite of any advantages it might bring to Arkansas, I am loyal to the current set up.
SEC 2.0 > SEC 3.0

Even Baylor. Seriously
No frickin' way do I want The Southern Baptist Convention trying to influence the SEC.

WTF is happening in here anyway? I've been busy since yesterday. Is there any real news about this? Last I heard, popular opinion was that ATM was looking very likely and that there had been talks with FSU. Anything since then?
Posted on 8/13/11 at 11:09 am to TigersOfGeauxld
Yeah cause there are hardly any Baptists in the SEC as it currently stands.
But seriously, Baylor is garbage.

Having baptists is one thing, having a school run by the baptists is another.

what has Kentucky done lately in football?
Beaten all those teams (except Bama) you listed within the last two times we've played them.
This is the SEC. I know you think beating those teams is a huge deal, but here in the SEC that's who we play every week. You are in a for a huge reality check IF y'all come to the SEC.
eta: I never said Mizzous sucks. I said Mizzou and Kentucky are on about the same level, but Kentucky has a lot more fan support.

busey, shut the frick up. Kentucky is a runt about whom nobody gives a damn, and you're doing nothing but shitting on this thread.
A&M > Kentucky
Mizzou > Kentucky
Clemson > Kentucky
FSU > Kentucky

Over on an Aggie board they are throwing around the idea that SEC has mentioned that a new TV deal would be around $34 mil/team and would be even higher for 16 teams.
