I have picked one: Auburn, but I don't hate everyone else. Sorry, I'm a nice SEC fan

I'd rather have Clemson than FSU. North Carolina would be ideal, but like you said, it'd be difficult.

I'm just going from what I read here: LINK

quote:

What kind of vote is required to add a member? Just a simple majority of the SEC presidents, but, and here’s the kicker – those who I talked to said that the SEC would expect the presidents to act unanimously. This would square with Commissioner Mike Slive's typical management style. When the SEC undertakes an expansive step, it wants to assure that everyone is on board, not just the majority.

I've been told that a single dissenting vote might be acceptable, but that if any two presidents opposed the inclusion of a new school, it would be unlikely that school would join the conference.

Adding Clemson or FSU does absolutely nothing for the SEC.

God I hope this doesn't mean that we wind up with Choklahoma. The thoughts of that fanbase makes me sick to my stomach

You have no idea. If you think Hog fans are bad, pfft, we may be boisterous but most of us know football. Oklahoma fans are the same, without knowing a damn thing about their team. They'll tell you how they're going to go undefeated without knowing who they even play that year, or unable to tell you who is in their conference outside of Texas and Okie Lite, and sometimes they don't even know that.

they could be our constant rival. Every year LSU could play Notre Dame at the vatican and The pope could do the coin toss. and then all Tiger fans that got booted from St Peters for trying to sneak a flask in can converage on the spainish steps and roll down it like monkey hill

I agree. What most of us are looking at is what seems to fit from a fan perspective, or what we percive as good football.

The real decision is going to be made on what makes sense $$ wise, with a slight nod to academincs

I disagree that adding FSU does nothing for the conference. Does it move the SEC into new TV markets? no. But that doesn't necessarily mean that FSU doesn't demand higher dollar figures from the networks. FSU has enough of a national brand to rake in more dollars for the SEC despite the fact that the SEC is already in Florida.

I guess we'll just have to see. Any guess on a team from the East is as good as any because no one really has a clue who the SEC is targeting in the East, if indeed they've even begun targeting anyone.

If I had to take a guess, though, I think it will end up being Florida State, despite the many issues that have been pointed out with adding Florida State.

Yeah, and the longhorns want Notre Dame to join the Big XII too. I don't see Notre Dame going anywhere any time soon, although I've zero ND connections to base that on.

I don't think FSU to the SEC will sit very well with the gators. And I don't think USCe would jump for joy over Clemson. I think the the SEC East will band together to block any ACC team and I think that Slive already knows it. If this is true, that leaves him to continue to look west: Mizzou, or try to get Choklahoma w/out Okie State. I don't think that will happen, Politics in OK would block that.

I'm looking at this completely from a tv market perpective. Clemson might look like an SEC school to some folks. But, the market area for Clemson isn't attractive enough for the SEC...neither is Florida St. for that matter ( Because you're jumping into the Florida area again)

Everything I've seen states that Slive is fine with a 13-member SEC for a year, and may take his time adding the 14th member.

Are the Longhorn fans like melting down at all this talk? Knowing they just basically opened the door to the SEC having a foothold in Texas. I can't wait till all this is official. UT finally officially killed the Big XII.

Not UNC. That would be freaking awesome in my opinion. Good academics, good baseball team, fair football team and awesome basketball.

FSU does bring a national brand (not like it used too mind you). But, bringing in Virginia Tech's Washington D.C.'s market trumps FSU in my honest opinion.

I don't think ACC lets go of N.Carolina because of how great of a basketball program they have.
