PTI guys said texas is the yankees of the big 12

No.

OU is not on the same level as Texas in terms of a national brand, power, total program, $$, prestige, etc.

the funny thing is that this conference has always been like this. The OU texas game was always the conference championship game, as long as they didn't shot them selves in the foot by losing to one of the other schools, both did it a couple times, then they win the conference.

I think it's all of it: name brand, fan following, on field success, alumni. Texas is generally a bigger draw with a bigger market.

good point but did losing 2 teams really change anything. The PTI guys obviously used it as a case against the big 12 becoming the big 10 per say instead of the pac 10 becoming the pac 16

They didn't just lose 2 teams they lost 2 states in the big 12.

No. Losing Nebraska and Colorado changed nothing. They could easily be replaced by other mid-major schools. However, losing A&M could be a huge blow. Big 12-2 has to become the Big 12 again to be viable.
