The MAC makes it work. The 6 team division plays every one in their div + 3 cross div games (18 total). In the 7 team div, 3 teams play everyone + 2 cross and 4 teams skip a div game and play 3 cross for a total of 18 cross games.

Well I think he meant the traditional scheduling. That seems as I said unconventional. But I dig it.

So how is this going to work with 13 teams?

I'm gonna assume that there are discussions being had with possible 14th teams (and possibly 15th, and 16th), but with the whole Baylor bitchfest scenario in the Big 12(-2) they are probably keeping those discussions tightly under wraps.

With a statement like that, I'll be patient as hell with the lawsuit, the Baylor B.S., with everything.

let me just say this; when miami, vatech and boston college left the big east there was a hell of a lot of sword rattling and lawsuits were filed. the big east lost every damn one of them because they cannot legally restrict freedom of movement. yes, the big east sued the acc and they sued all three teams; all to no avail of course. today's situation is similar and baylor has no legal leg to stand on. however, with ken starrs reputation (he doesn't give a shite about right or wrong or legal precedent) both the sec and a&m are chilling to prevent the chaotic legal mess that the acc went through. there are two things that will happen......1)oklahoma/okie lite and missouri break the dam open and a&m skates w/o lawsuits because even the slimeball starr will have to realize his college is screwed if he files 50 lawsuits that have no merit (hopefully his BOR will step in) and 2) nobody else leaves and the lawsuits fly. imo, y'all are in.

Solid post, Indiana Tiger.

Team Speed Kills has the full analysis of a MAC like schedule for the SEC.

At this late date, unless those teams come from a collapsed Big 12, then we are most likely playing with 13 next yr (assuming A&M clears hurdles). Teams from the other conferences are most likely committed thru 2012 now.

Hire the MAC Commissioner as a consultant, since it has 13 teams.

ETA: Someone already posted how things work. But the MAC can always use more $$$ (being the Sun Belt of the Rust Belt) so go ahead and hire him.

I don't understand why the scheduling is such a big deal. The Big-10 had 11 teams since 1990 or so. And you could argue ND is basically in there, but that would mean now they basically have 13 teams.

Slive's statement today fits what has been a thread on texags since yesterday saying this statement was coming today along with back channel communications to BU, OU, tu, Big XII and Beebe that if any suit was filed, they could expect multiple countersuits that would involve an extensive discovery process that just maybe they would not like to collectively or individually endure.

The statement is benign in that respect, but is declarative in terms of scheduling in a new member starting next year. I doubt if those 5 want to expose the complete nature of the cancer in the Big XII that you have all seen only as the tip of the iceberg.

I think this is a pretty big deal. His statement seemed more than just legalese, it pretty much said nothing is going to stop them from admitting us. Notice the "when" A&M joins the conference, there was no "if". As far as the schedule goes, I'm sure it can be worked out but I'm pretty excited to see what it will look like.

Apparently his attorneys just told him they will win in court.....

I suspect he knows that OK/OSU are going to leave and that the Big 12 will collapse shortly.

I agree, i have had said welcome to you Aggies before, but i believe this is my official welcome. Its happening and eventhough maybe ole news, I dont think Slive would be speaking so openly if it wasnt going to happen. Welcome aboard the Number one conference in the land Aggies.

As long as the Mathematicians at Alabama are not working on it we will be fine...

Because up until this year, the B1G only had 11 official members, and the way they played their schedule, not everyone played everyone. This year they are going to divisions and I believe that everyone in a division plays everyone else within the division, just like the SEC has donce since the move to 12 teams.

When you have components (divisions) with a small enough set of teams, it is only fair that the winner of the division play everyone else in said division. Would it be fair for the Falcons to go to the playoffs if they hadn't played the Saints, yet are in the same NFC South division?

The way the 13 team schedule is described on team speed kills, I understand it, but if I were an Alabama fan, I think it would suck that I could possibly finish the season tied for the SEC West lead with Arky and not have a head to head tie breaker with them to determine who goes to Atlanta.

In all honesty I think that aTm should be made to wait until a 14th school is found so that schedules don't have to be screwed with twice.

Let the tailgate party begin!!!

We are the new-comers. I am sure our admin and AD will make the sacrifice to make the 13-team conference schedule as painless for other members as possible.
