Thanks for the words of encouragement, guys. I agree that the new big 12 lite will not last more than a few years, I just hope our admin haven't dicked the dog so bad on this one that we don't have the option to come east when it does.

Guys,
I just wanted to say it was good hanging with you guys over here this week, this is a very well run site with an excellent group of posters. I plan on sticking around a bit, but it might take a couple of days for the sting of this one to go away. Anyway, thanks for all the feedback and stimulating conversation. I gotta run now, my longhorn neighbor needs his lawn mowed... :banghead:

We got proper fricked.

Salty, as much as I would love to have A&M in the SEC, this might be working out for the best for college football if the Big 12 can survive and even thrive in some form for the sake of inter-regional competition. If the Big 12 is salvaged, the Aggies deserve a lot of credit for bucking the PAC 16 wave and hopefully saving the day. I don't think anyone but the Left coast crowd would want to see a mega-conference dominating the college landscape.
I don't completely disagree with you, and, if this does go down, then our AD was able to negotiate some very good things for our university. I would just be extremely disapponted as a football fan. Just being selfish I suppose, I really dig SEC football and want to be a part of it.

the info I was going off of is not from Orangebloods.
I would kick my own arse if I went to that site.

Hung,
Our admin seems to have gotten a substantial chunk of cash out of this renegotiation, so, from that aspect they appear to have been successful in what they set out to do, so I am not sure there was any "caving" to anyone.
From a football fans perspective, I would have rather gone to the Pac-16 than stay in this big 12.
The Big 12 lite will last no more than ten years, if it makes it that long, IMO. At that point, all parties involved in that league are screwed.
SEC means stability and kick arse football. I do not like this one bit. :banghead:

not gonna happen.
unless dan beebe has figured out a way to piss money, there is no way he can muster the kind of dinero neccesary to keep the big 12 together.

Where is this money coming from? I don't by that a ten team Big 12 can land a tv contract that big.
This.
I'll believe it when I see where the money is coming from.

For as much as Aggies like to attack Texas, the Longhorns have never crossed the line when it comes to bonfire.
To their credit the horns displayed a level of repsect seldom seen in our rivalry after the bonfire collapse. The way they handled it was nothing short of pure class.

apparently this money is coming from Dan Beebe's arse.
see??? even the horns hate this idea.
hopefully this is all just posturing.

agreed. should this occur the line to punch said poster in the nads forms to my left.
I thought it was a bluff until Liucci's most recent twitter post.
Hopefully this goes the way of so many of these rumors in this saga, but is sure is a troubling wrinkle, IMO.

Looks like the "save the big 12" campaign has real legs.

think "war of the roses"...
Our program is at a FRAN-tastic low right now, but historically we are a top 15-20 program in just about every category, we simply reside 90 miles away from a historical top 5-10 program that is currently enjoying an incredibly successful run. Make no mistake, we as a fan base (at least most of us) are under no delusions that the road back to football relevance gets easier by going to the SEC, but it sure as HELL gets a lot more interesting, IMHO.
As a program we have the resources (read: fan base, recruiting area, alumni base, etc) to be a competitive addition to the SEC; a move to the SEC, while separating ourselves from texas, feels to most of us as a good step in the right direction to re-make our brand so to speak. It would be, however, just a step, we must then see if we have the proper coach in place (for the record I am a fan of our current coach, this year will be VERY telling in that regard) and continue to improve our recruiting.
That’s my two cents, that and seven dollars will get you a cup of joe at starbucks…
